Guest guest Posted November 10, 2005 Report Share Posted November 10, 2005 Hi ya Jack, CMS is currently running a two-year " Chiropractic Demonstration Project " using a few states back east where all participating docs can bill and be reimbursed by their respective Medicare carrier (eg. Noridian) for ALL services provided. That includes E-M, CMT, PT, X-ray, MICKEY MOUSE, etc. At the end of the project the cost of services will be evaluated and a decision will be made to continue with limited reimbursement as it is now or expand to allow reimbursement for all chiropractic services. The " incident to " situation regards docs who have ancillary personel in their office who, at the direction of the doc, administer PT services to patients. CMS did not want to reimburse for those PT services unless the doc rendered the service, not an " ancillary personel " . So, the jist is the powers that be are trying to convince CMS it is okey-dokey to reimburse for services ordered but not necessarily performed by the doc. Is that better?
