Guest guest
Ok, I'm home today and recording the demo videos. While watching Lizz's demo I decided, why not and got my crockpot out to make a small 3 lb. batch of Patchouli Soap. It's cooking now but I can't remember when to add the EO. Does anyone know? I can't rewind the tape because it's recording. :-) Katy
Guest guest
Hi Katy Geri is correct , after the cook ! I do HP all of the time - only because I just have NO LUCK at all with cp ! It's fun to watch it go through the stages as it cooks, and then the most fun part is being able to use it right away if you want Good luck in your new adventure. in WI Katy <katyr64@...> wrote: Thanks Geri! Maybe I was making it too painful. :-) I do CP and have never done HP. So far so good! Katy Re: HP Hi, Katy! I'd add the EO after the cook, when the soap has cooled to at least 140 degrees. You could add a half ounce of shea with the EO to keep the soap smooth as you stir it. Fill us in about the results after you're done! Geri > It's cooking now but I can't remember when to add the EO. Guest guest
Well, my first attempt at HP came out ok. I normally use .5 oz of EO per lb. of soap for my cp soap but I cut it in half for hp and I wish I hadn't cut it so much. I like a strong soap and, while I can smell the patchouli, it's not as potent as I'd like. The only thing that bugged me yesterday is that it took 2 hours to cook (when the island in the middle was gone) on low in my crockpot. My pot must not be as hot as Lizz's crockpot. Next time I'll try it on high. All in all, though, it turned out well. My crock isn't big enough to make the batch sizes that I normally make (9-12 lbs.) but it's good to know that I can make a quick log of soap when I need to. :-) Katy Re: HP Hi, Katy! Guest guest
Hi ; ) I must have missed your post re: HP?? Was it stuck in your mold??? I've been experiencing problems recieving my dailey digests, and couldn't even stay on to the directly, long enough to answer posts. Think I have this dilemma squared a way now (I hope). I like to do a batch of HP occasionally, especially with those impossible FOs when used in CP ; ) Its really quite fun, to watch it go for that gel in the pot ; ) This coming from a die-hard ungelled afficondo ; )LOL Huggs, Bekka In a message dated 4/10/2004 5:49:03 AM Eastern Standard Time, writes: I DID IT! I got it out of the mold. God I hope to never have to do that again. I must say, I like the no ash thing but I don't know if HP is my thing. Guest guest
Well, I experienced my first problem FO. It curdled and separated and looked like PUKE in the pot. Thanks to Terry I decided to try and save it via DBHP. It worked but stuck like glue in the mold. After a day (whoops forgot about it) in the freezer, out it popped. I'm not sure I like HP. I really like my HARD ungelled, non tacky/sticky/squishy CP.
