Guest guest
Yesterday, Kate, Karrie and I went out to play in the snow. We built a snowman, had a snowball fight and made snow angels. While we didn't follow Tim's protocol to the letter, the impact of this type of snow therapy for kids with SI issues is great!! The results from the therapy are longer lasting than even the deep pressure protocol (brushing) or joint compression proprioceptive and/or vestibular input that most of us OT's generally use!! Why just this morning.... I was sitting on the toilet (I have no privacy) when Karrie sang Jingle Bells, Up on the Rooftop, and Days of the Week from start to end. She then told me she loves Isaac, Sherri, Caleb, and named all the other kids in her class. Then she moved on to name all the kids in latchkey. I just sat, not wanting to move and break her train of thought!! Her muscle tone must be better, since she not only chose her own clothes (striped t-shirt, plaid skirt, anklets, and white dress shoes), but totally dressed herself. She even combed her own hair!! Tim, genius that you are, could you please, please come up with some other protocols for us to use?? (Disclaimer to the rest of the group....no flaming for getting Tim started again!!! I'm fighting a cold and feeling rotten this morning...too much time on my hands!!) Sue mom to Kate 15 and Karrie 8 w/ds and other issues
