Guest guest
Beth, I looked for a product similar but couldn't find anything. Do you know where you saw it specifically? By the way, great site! Thanks. kim
Guest guest
I just saw a similar product described on a " quack- watch " website yesterday. http://www.quackwatch.com This is a great (but massive) site, with very solid research based information. There is a ton there on supplements, etc.. Look for some interesting stuff on Weider. Beth
Guest guest
Hey Kim, Thanks for the input. The product you purchased sounds very similar to the one my mom got. Yours has slightly more calories, and it has carbs (probably because of the fiber blend). It's true that thermogenics only give you energy, which might add up to 50 extra cals burned per day. I just can't take them. They make me sick to my stomach and jittery, and I can't sleep at all (even 12 hours after I take one). I think this won't do any harm, so might as well try it. By the way, my mom bought the stuff at WalMart for $12. It sounds nearly identical, but a huge price difference. Dani
Guest guest
Body solutions is advertised pretty heavily around here, mostly by radio announcers. I've noticed that for the last year, the same announcers are saying the same thing over and over: " I've lost 11 pounds, and more will follow. " Well, it's been a year and they've lost 11pounds? There was an investigation of it on the local TV station, I don't remember which one, and they said that any weight loss attributed to this product was probably due to the schedule they have you follow. You are to have no food for three hours before going to bed, and then take the Body Solutions in a large glass of water at bed time. Lets look at that. Most people go to bed around 11PM. Most people get home from work around 6. With an hour to get a meal ready, they usually are through eating by 7:30 or 8. That is putting them right at the " don't eat " time. Studys have shown that most of American's calories are consumed in the evening, after dinner, through high caloric snacks. If you follow Body Solutions as instructed, you are going to be cutting out a significant number of calories, most of them highly processed carbs. Of course you are going to loose some weight, at least a little...say about 11 pounds after several months.... Alys

Guest guest
Alys, Thanks for this response. You make a great point. I am a very critical consummer, and I was thinking that the " don't eat for three hours before taking this product " rule sounded suspicious. Obviously, with BFL, I'm eating about an hour before I go to bed, and I'm not about to cut out my last meal, so I'll only wait an hour before I take the stuff. We'll see if it helps at all. I doubt it, but it has CNA, vitamins and CQ10, certainly nothing harmful, so it can't hurt. Dani
Guest guest
Here is the exact quote from the Quackwatch.com website. This was under the section about weight loss schemes. According to the site, " Each January, Frances M. Berg, M.S., editor of Healthy Weight Journal, presents " Slim Chance Awards " to promoters of weight-loss schemes. Here are the awards for 1999. " Worst Claim: Calorad Calorad claims to help you lose fat while gaining muscle. Its main ingredient is collagen, a poor quality, incomplete protein, with aloe vera for laxative effect, and the mild sweetener glycerin masking an offensive taste. Another multi-level marketing promotion that promises to fix what ails you, to give you " better sleep, muscle toning, improved overall fitness, and increased energy, " while helping you shed fat and replace it with muscle, all without exercising. It has the potential for serious protein malnutrition if relied upon totally, as some users apparently do. Instructions are to eat nothing for 3 hours before going to bed, take the powdered collagen at bedtime and upon waking in the morning, to " help you sustain daytime energy levels with the added advantage of endurance and stamina. " Athletes are told to take Calorad 30 minutes before a work out. Available from supplement dealers. " It isn't an exact match to the Body Solutions, but the collagen and 3 hours before bed no eating caught my eye. Here is the direct link: http://www.quackwatch.com/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/PhonyAd s/slim/99.html Here is a link to an article about " ergogenic aids " http://www.quackwatch.com/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/ergo.ht ml There is also an article on there called, " Health Food Store Advice--Don't Trust It. " at http://www.quackwatch.com/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/hfsadvi ce.html I hope this information is taken in the right spirit. The one thing I like about BFL is that it isn't based on a bunch of mumbo jumbo, but just solid nutrition and exercise. I even like the Myoplex because it is a good way to control intake quantities of essential nutrients. I'm not yet there on ephedine and other stuff, just my humble opinion, but the risks seem too high. Beth

I'll bet money that a crack addict suffering from withdrawals feels very similar to the way I feel on ephedrine. Yeah, the [price difference is enormous. Let's definitely talk at the end of the month to see if the results are the same. I imagine that they would be if we both exercise while taking it. kim
Guest guest
Here's another article I found about Body Solutions on http://dietfraud.com I'm definitely not taking it now. Read on if you're interested. SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- There's trouble brewing for Body Solutions, a diet company that's been advertising heavily on Bay Area radio stations. The company marketing the product, San -based Mark Nutritionals, is facing class action lawsuits from consumers in Florida and Michigan. The Orange County District Attorney's office is also investigating it for possible false advertsing. What's all the fuss about? We conducted our own investigation. It's on the airwaves, on the billboards: Lose pounds while you sleep. Just a spoonful of formula helps the weight come off. For of Woodside, Body Solutions was just a costly mistake. " I think some people have the same problem that I did, " says . " They just are looking for a solution that's a little easier, softer, and of course there aren't [any]. " It's exactly the audience Body Solutions is targeting, historically a vulnerable crowd. How many weight loss products have come and gone, and taken with them desperate people's money and hopes? Body Solutions has made a ton of money, yet as you'll see it's hard to see what makes this plan so different. First, what is Body Solutions? We plunked down about $160 for a three- month supply of the company's hottest selling product, the " Phase One Evening Weight Loss Kit, " and found a volunteer to try it out. Ajari's goal is to fit into a special dress, for a very special occasion. " My cousin is getting married in April, " says Terisa, " and I didn't want to be a typical matron of honor. I want to be a sexy matron of honor! " She found out the evening weight loss program involves more than the nighttime potion. It advises against eating or drinking anything for at least three hours before sleeping. Many experts, in fact, say if you stop eating 3 hours before bedtime and increase excercise you'll mostly likely lose weight anyway. We asked Joanne Ikeda, a nutrition professor at UC Berkeley, to study the products. She says there's Chromium Picolinate and Conjugated Linoleic Acid or CLA, both popular diet ingredients but neither have been proven to cause weight loss. In fact, she says Chromium Picolinate has been shown not to work. " The FTC finally went after the distributor of this compound and made them sign an agreement saying that this compound did not cause weight loss, " says Joanne. We repeatedly asked Gilbert Kaatz, the researcher who tested and helped develop Body Solutions, what the key ingredient in the product is. He was reluctant to tell us. Finally, he told us that the key ingredient is not eating three hours before you go to sleep. But then, why should people buy the product at all? If people change their behaviors by eating decent meals and not eating three hours before going to bed, they are going to lose weight. That's the bottom line. Meanwhile, Body Solutions continues to rake in money by making dieting seem so easy. Gilbert Kaatz told us his research on Body Solutions will be published soon. He blames publishers for not printing it earlier. (Copyright 2002 KRON 4. .)
