Guest guest
Are your kids involved in Special Olympics? What advice do you have? My son's high school (Josiah is 16 now) is going to take their sp ed class and wants to involve him. We've never been involved before because we didn't have any group to go with until now. I know that we could have involved him individually, but we felt he was busy enough with Challenger baseball and basketball, summer camps, going to the lake many times in the summer where he wakeboards and kneeboards, church activities, etc. I do know about the forms I need and the x-rays our kids with ds need. I'd appreciate any comments any of you have about it. Shirley Just for Fun Seeing as things have gone quiet here again, is that because everyone is just so busy or nothing to post - anyway what I am proposing how about a little story about your child with DS, something that made you proud, smile or laugh (even if it was one of those occasions that you had to be stern) of him/her today. Now as it is still morning here (8.30 a.m.) and school holiday time - Trent is still sleeping - now that does make me very happy I can play on the computer in peace - he he he As I said it is still early here, so will say something about yesterday - we went into Geelong to do some shopping - for once he didn't display signs of moodiness but enjoyed his free time in various shops looking for something to buy -ended up buying a Simpson coffee cup (as if I need another coffee cup!) and a book - an early reader. More importantly though, when I stopped to talk to a girlfriend, and we talked far to long - Trent stayed with us - although he did wander into the travel agent for a brochure then a bit later gave it back to them! Guest guest
Hi Our three oldest kids have been involved in Special Olympics since 1997. It is a great experience for them and everybody involved. They have learned a lot about different sports plus about cooperation, team work, and team spirit. We involve them in everything. Yesterday they started their third year of dance lessons at the local dance studio. They are in their seventh year of scouting and seventh year of 4 H. They learn so much from all of these activities and become a part of the community. They also take music and swimming lessons. Special Olympics is a wonderful event. Everyone emerges a winner. Just look at the faces of the some of the athletes with their medals and you will see. Good luck. Dad to , Kristi, (all three Down syndrome) and (Cri du chat) Husband to C. in Mo. Uncle Daddy to and in Calif.
