Hi Team, I'm baaack!! Yes I know I was back before but what you didn't know

was that on my birthday (which up until 6p.m had been kinda disappointing -

no gift from the hubby or my daughter in Scotland, and not even a call from

my son in England!), my doorbell rang. And there was my son and his

girlfriend! They came all the way to the States for the weekend!! Everyone

knew except me of course. It was fantastic but naturally the restaurants

beckoned and the celebrations lasted the next 4 days! Wow - what a time.

Then all sorts of things happened, we had no internet connection, illness

struck....whatever. Nothing as interesting as the first bit!! The point is

my new Challenge starts on Monday. I'm really keen and can't wait to get fit

again. I'm out of touch with what's been going on in the Group but I'll soon

catch up I hope. Good luck to everyone out there on a Challenge, thinking

about one, finishing one or in maintenance. Champions rule. Later.

Lean. (well hardly Lean at the moment but it's my name and I'm keeping it!)

!!!!!!!! Welcome back!!!!! We definitely have missed you.

We are getting ready to start another round on 8/1/00 at the very latest!

It'll be nice to be very close in time again. We've got to get whipped back

into shape again in case they come knocking on our doors from that first

round we both did at the same time!!!!

Keep us posted! ( & Jimmy)

Hey Group!! I liked the title of Lean's email-Brand New Start!! I too

am ready to get going again. I think August 1st will be a good day for me,

It's so interesting how emotional issues have such a bearing on our physical

well-being and self-image. Some of you oldies will remember I completed one

round this year and got to a size 6 but I have to say I'm in an 8 right now

and want to get back where I need to be before I let things get more out of

hand. I went completely off caffeine for three weeks now and I cant believe

the weight (inches) gain because of that! Anyway, as the saying goes I'M

BACK..... well, almost, think I need til the first. Cyn

Hi , Great to hear from you and I couldn't agree more...it'll really

be super doing our Challenges in sync again. Pity we'll always be that much

in front of you - IN EVERY WAY!! Ha ha, just kidding. Actually I'm entering

as an individual this time and my husband (he of the Slipper Fame) is going

along for the ride. Guess what I missed most about not being on the program?

I missed the structure. The 'knowing' every day that you eat at certain

times, you work out at other times and everything else falls into place

around the program. Without this basic structure, it seems like so many

things go for a loop, not just the diet and exercise, but everything. I seem

to drift instead of functioning. But woo hoo, everything will sink back to

normal mode on Monday! All the best to you and Jimmy (you'll need it as you

chase me down!)

Laater, Lean.

Hey Cyn, Come on. You have to start August 1st and be with us. You did a

challenge the same time as me and we talked and helped each other out before,

so let's do it again. You and and me can go for it. I can't wait

til Aug 1 because in 13 weeks time, I'm going to South Africa to visit family

so for me it's Monday 24th July or never. But that's just a week apart from

your start date.

Yes indeed it is fascinating how emotions effect our health AND the decisions

we make....and hence the quality of the lives we live. That is precisely why

it is so important to overcome our emotions at least during the time that we

exercise and eat wisely, because gradually the discipline and strength that

we exhibit in these times, overflows into the rest of our lives as our

self-esteem and confidence grows. So pleeeeeese, join and me, and

let's do it again. All the best Lean.

Hey - I just finally read your note from 7/21. It was nice to hear

from you again too. Yes, I have definitely been out of control. My main

problem is I don't eat breakfast because I'm always running late and then I

get very hypoglycemic and eat unhealthy at lunch then get hypoglycemic again

and don't eat healthy at dinner either. Those 2 meals are usually my only

ones! I feel horrible and irritable and shaky and nervous all day. It

sucks! I miss how wonderful I felt during the last round! Maybe this

time after the 12 weeks I can continue it on my own. I hope so. I'll be

chasin' ya!!!

Hiya , yes I know all about how sucky it feels when you aren't on a

Challenge. I went on an eating jag that lasted 2 months. It was a difficult

time because in all honesty, I was having so much fun and the idea of going

back to my 'regime' was so unappealing. But the way I felt in myself and

about myself...yuk! Blood pressure prevented my exercise program last week

but I'm still counting it as week 1 and looking forward to you joining me on

Aug 1st. I'm sure (like me) you are starting off in a much better place than

you did last time anyway so at least we have that going for us. Good luck

and to everyone else commencing Aug 1. Later babe, Leaner.

Oh Dani! I am so happy to read this. Now it sounds like you have truly

" crossed the abyss " and WILL be able to keep your promises to yourself. I wish

you the very best of luck and know that you will continue to be determined. You

have 4 months - you can reach your goals but you will have to be very clean and

very honest with yourself. I look forward to hearing your updates.

Brand new start

Hi Ladies,

I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday weekend. I've been doing

some soul searching. After the thread last week concerning my

progress (or lack thereof), I realized that my heart really hasn't

been in this challenge. I've been hitting my 10s for the most part,

and I've been consistent with my weight training, but I haven't been

sticking to my diet. I haven't been planning my meals, so sometimes

I would only get 4 or 5 meals in. I also haven't been dilligent

enough about getting enough protein at every meal. And, of course,

I've been going hog wild my free days. All that has to change.

Today I had my mother take my " before " pictures. This is a first for

me. When I completed my first challenge over three years ago, I

never took a before picture, because I was too embarrassed of my body

and figured I didn't want to ever remember myself like that. Now I

realize that if we don't remember the past, we're condemned to repeat

it. I want this picture to serve as a reminder of why it's NOT worth

it to pig out on high-fat, high-sugar foods. Eating hasn't made me

happy. Being in shape and looking great did.

So I'm starting over, wiping the slate clean. Tomorrow is the first

day of my challenge. My birthday is Sept. 20, and I want to have my

body back by then. I took the suggestion of keeping a journal and

recording moments when I feel like bingeing. I've never felt more

motivated. Thanks everyone for your continued support and wish me

luck.

I'm doing the same, Dani. I started C4 a few weeks ago (with some tweaking)

and feel much more decidated than I did in C3. Besides keeping a journal, my

biggest change is that I am not going to have a complete free day....I too

would go " hog wild " (great pun) and I kept a log for a week and recorded

everything I put into my body. i have no problem eating clean and sticking to

the plan for 6 days, but my free day was out of control. It just wasn't

working for me...I was putting literally THOUSANDS of extra calories into my

body that day...I was holding my own success hostage, if that makes sense.

Good luck on your new motivation! a

a ... I have found the same to be true for me ... no more free DAYS ... I

even go nuts with the free MEAL! lol But I am bringing that under control, too.

I think keeping a journal is an excellent idea ... I've been writing down all my

meals and workouts, but I think a few notes here and there would be very

helpful!

How wonderful to wake up to all these wonderful, positive messages.

I think it's appropriate that I'm beginning on Memorial Day. I am

going to a bbq today, but I've already planned that I'm going to have

some grilled chicken and a small salad while there. My mom's friend

is hosting the bbq, and she's very supportive of my healthy eating,

as is my mom.

I'm going to keep posting regularly so I don't lose my motivation,

since I know from experience that no matter how pumped you may be

initially, a slump may eventually occurr. I just don't want that

slump to turn into more cheating and more self-sabotage.

I know I can reach my goals by the end of Sept., but I also

understand that I'll have to eat very clean, plan my meals, be

methodical and consistent.

Rita and a, I think we're in the same boat when it comes to free

days. Rita, I, too, have had problems even with the free meal! (All-

you-can-eat buffets are evil!) There are certain foods that simply

trigger a binge in me, and I'm going to stay away from them

completely until I feel like I can control my portion sizes.

Happy Memorial Day, ladies!

Congrats on deciding to make this work :) And on taking the pics!! I know

my pictures really inspire me to stick with it. I see that ugly fat naked

Re: Brand new start

Dani-

I've been reading the thread for sometime now and feel like I know

you! Boy, can I relate to the soul searching. Although I'm new to

BFL: C1/starting W5 today, I have just been making it through with

the exercise and water, food was not clean to say the least. Today

I bought a journal, reread Bill's book, have started answering the

questions, and loaded the camera with film. Will ask hubby to take

pictures tonight. DH is also on Wek 5 and has been religious about

it; he looks HOT! (Not that I'd tell him) I hope I can follow

along with you as you work towards your September 20th goal. I

haven't written out my goals yet, but they are also geared for

September, my son turns 3 and we are spending the week following

Labor Day at the beach. I have always been the out of shape

girlfriend/wife/mom- not this year! Hey, there's my goal, to be in

the best possible physical shape (for me) by September 1. Now, to

figure out what " the best possible " is:)

I'll look forward to reading your posts!

I didn't have a good start either, Bec. Actually since I'm going for physical

therapy tomorrow and won't know till then when I can start weight training

again, I'm going to pretend today never happened and hope for the best! If I

can't do the weights, I'll just do cardio which seems not to bother my back at

all and start eating clean TOMORROW! lol
