Guest guest
Hi, feeling left out so will do an intro myself! I am Sue (there are a lot of us on this list!) and I live in east Yorkshire in The UK. I have three children, Ben (17), Naomi (14) and Tim (11). I first joined this list when Tim was 2 years old, doesn't time fly when you're having fun?!! 9 years, where have they gone?! Ben is at high school in the 6 th form studying for 'A' levels in history, chemistry, physics and Maths, he is keen to go to Oxford University in 18 months time to study chemistry. He is very bright and studies hard, a very untypical teenage boy in that respect! He has severe eczema and asthma but both are reasonably well controlled by medication. he is addicted to the computer and spends hours in his loft hidden away from public view, occasionally surfacing to eat! Naomi is a disgustingly healthy and fit young lady, loves drama and taking part in school productions etc. She has dreams of being a famous actress, but at 14 I can live in hope that that ambition wll change! She attends the same private school as Ben and is doing very well as well. Tim is a little charmer, he is the child who sits permanently on the 5th percentile on the height/weight charts, someone has to I guess but he'd kill to be taller. He is about 118cm tall right now, the size of a 6 year old. He was born with DS and Hirshsprungs disease. He has had surgery to correct the hirshsprungs but still has problems with soiling as a result of it. He has had glue ear since infancy, which becoz it wasn't corrected until he was 4 years old has left him with severe speech and language problems, he now wears a hearing aid after four lots of grommets. As an infant he was constantly in and out of hospital but to give newer parents hope he has outgrown his tendency to bronchitis and pneumonia which hospitalised so frequently as an infant and toddler. He hasn't been seriously ill for about 3 years and that was gastroenteritis and one of those things anyone could have picked up. He has even finally been discharged from one of his hospital clinics after 11 years! He went to a mainstream primary school until this september, he now attends a special school for children with moderate learning difficulties where he is thriving. He wears glasses to correct astigmatism and long sight. He also has dental problems, he likes to grow new teeth but doesn't want to let go of the old ones so has two rows of teeth! He has lost three teeth in total and grown 7. The dentists are not sure if he will lose any more naturally or how many more will come thro and so are reluctant to remove too many. Tim was adopted in Hong Kong when we lived out there and so is fully chinese unlike my other two who are only half chinese. he is extremely proud of being chinese and stops any chinese person he meets in the street to point out to them that he is also chinese like them!! He is also proud of having DS and does likewise when he meets people with DS. He was totally gobsmacked when he met an adult man with DS recently who was also chinese! Anyway, time rolls on, time to hit the gym. I'm training for the 'race for life' in may, a 5 km race for women to run and raise funds for cancer research. As I am still vastly overweight and unfit this will be a huge challenge for me! As cindy says, weight watchers is great! sue wong ____________________________________________________________________________ This email and all attachments have been electronically scanned by Kingston Communications' email Anti-Virus service and no known viruses were detected. ____________________________________________________________________________
