Hi all,

It is hard to believe we will soon be starting another year. Bridget has made

some neat progress this school year despite the educators involved. She is

becoming more social with her classmates. They told me she initiated playing

tag the other day. She has a new friend through a family I have met. They have

5 very typical children. Their 3rd grader (8 yo) has really taken to Bridget.

She will sit with her for hours and imitate everything Bridget does AND Bridget

loves it!!! I think she is now beginning to get Bridget more involved by

suggesting playing games with her. Bridget and I also have had some neat and

fun communication time just playing on the sofa or lounging in bed in the early

morning.

Bridget is 11. She is in a self contained education classroom setting. This is

working for her socially and sensory wise (for a lack of better wording). The

academic side needs quite a lot of tuning, but we are getting there. Last week,

Bridget's dance class and some other typical dance classes performed at the self

contained special education school (yes, they still exist) in our area. Bridget

initially refused to go on. Once the music started, she made a bee-line for the

front of the gym and really hammed it up. She had the crowd really going. Her

dance instructor was so into the other 3 girls she did not realize Bridget had

joined in. It was neat to see.

A couple of weekends a go we went to the mall. Bridget does not enjoy shopping,

however, she walked with me form one end of the mall to the other, stopping to

try on clothes. We have had some really good socially appropriate behavior out

in public lately! I am enjoying it!

Well, thanks for reading if you made it this far!

Good for you . I know how happy you must be - you really do learn to

celebrate the small stuff with kids like Bridget.

Enjoy your Holidays,

It sounds like Bridget has really made some great strides. How wonderful!

also enjoys shopping now, so does . They want to try on clothes in

their own dressing rooms, without me in them, then come out and model. They

really have a lot of fun.

I think dance is wonderful. loves her class, and does pretty well during

the recitals.

It was great hearing about Bridget!
