Check out www.impex-fitness.com Click on Bench, then click next at

the bottom of the screen until you get to page seven. The third one

down is the Powerhouse Cage, and this is what I use. Click on the

picture for a better description. It was about $270, and the 310lb

worth of weight plates I have are Weider, and they were $110 with the

olympic barbell included. Also bought a set of dumbbells, Weider,

that go up to 20lbs each for $50.

We LOVE our Impex Competitor. We got it from http://www.bodytrends.com (no

affiliation, yada yada) and it's just GREAT. I think it's the 420 Model.

There are only a small handfull of exercises from the book that we can't do

(like the leg press and one of the calf exercises) It was relatively easy to

set up with two people and it was only a little over $100 :) Couldn't live

without it!!

> Can anyone recommend a good home gym(brand) or free weight station?

This really depends upon your weightlifting experience, the amount of

space, and your proximity to a gym.

If you are inexperienced and live anywhere near a gym, I would

recommend joining that gym to get started. Get a few sessions with a

trainer to learn correct form. You can also get an idea of what

exercises you like to do.

If you are experieinced and live anywhere near a gym, I would

recommend joining a gym. If you have your own gym, you may find that

the exercises get boring after a while. A well-stocked public gym

gives you a lot more variety - and will probably keep you interested

longer.

If you are experienced and do not live near a gym, I would recommned

an adjustable incline bench, a set of dumbells (or powerblocks) and a

45 -pound barbell with removeable plates. You can do most of your

workout with the dumbells and barbells. Maybe add a leg extention

attachment (but if you have bad knees - forget this!) Also a balance

board and a swiss ball would be inexpensive and functional additions.

If you are inexperienced and don;t live near a gym, you shoudl find a

reputable fitness supply store - check out what they have. Demo the

machines. Pick their brains and ask lots of questions. If you are

interested in a particular machine (e.g the Nimbus 2000) - ask about

another machine first - and then ask how it comepares to the Nimbus

2000.

Whaveer you do, if you see the machien advertised on TV early sunday

morning and Tony Little, Suzanne Summers, or Chuck Norris are in the

ads - run screaming in the other direction!

Hope this helps!

Jill

Naw, I want to work out at home as much as possible.

I've got a basement with plenty of space and plan to

remodel it as a mini gym. So home workout machines are

what i'm looking for. I'll have to check out the

Nimbus 2000 :)

Serenity is the gym you're referring to called the

Impex Competitor 420? I don't see it on the bodytrends

site, or did I misunderstand your message. That price

range works for me. :)

Ms. Cherrie,

I think Serenity is gone for the weekend, so thought I'd reply. If you click on

the link in the post http://www.bodytrends.com

then go to the upper right corner and in the search area type impex competitor

you will see it. It was $105 I think.
