It is going to vary according to your level of fitness when you

begin.

All mentioned exercises are good. Squats are the all around best

lower body exercise there is. And I'm talking free bar squats but

dumbbell squats will do if that is all you have. I usually hit the

squats first then will go to the leg press machine, then finish off

my quads on the leg extension machine. Then will do straight legged

deadlifts for hamstrings, then hamstring curls. Calves are done on

the leg press machine. If you do calf exercises straight legged(not

locked out) it concentrates on the gastrocnemius muscle of the calf.

If you do them with slightly bent knees it concentrates on the soleus

muscle. Be sure to hit them both. Hope this helps.

Don't worry how " much " weight but how intensely you work with the

weight you able to continuously challenge yourself with. Hope this

helps.

70 lbs on leg extensions, but I think I should have better. Anyway you have to

do whats right for you. Experiment till you find the weight that will give you

your 10!

I don't have a choice so I just use the equipment that's in the gym I go to.

Good luck to you!

Leg Workouts: Home Gyms or Basic Bench?

During everyone's first challenge, what is the maximum amount of

weight you were eventually able to lift with your legs? What leg

exercises or machine did you use?

Which is better: squats and leg lifts using a home gym machines, or

leg curls using a basic bench?

C1 - about 180 ( " 4 wheels " )on free weight leg press, 120 on leg

extension

C2 - about 230 on free weight leg press and power squat (as of

yesterday)

no knee pain though...!

There is a woman on another board who can leg press 950 pounds...she

is in about her fourth challenge.

Are you sure about this? That is just over 21 wheels. That is 1

wheel less than 1/2 ton. I think it is a typo. I have never even

seen the muscle heads do that much........

What are free bar squats? I think I can lift more

weight when I do squats, but it hurts the back of my

kneck and it's hard to lift the weight to my

shoulders.
