Betsey,

That is so wonderful to hear about your cholesterol! Isn't it amazing how well

our bodies respond when we just treat them with respect? Awesome news! Cheers

- to your health!

Wow Betsey those are great numbers. It's nice to know

that you can do this with the healthy fats. I probably

eat about 30% healthy fats - I feel yucky if I go

below that. Have you read any of the zone books? The

recipes in those books use a lot of healthy fats. I

bought almond butter the other day and started putting

1 tsp. in my oatmeal (anything to jazz it up you

know).

Hi Jan,

I'm not Betsey, but I play her on TV. :-) I came to BFL from the Zone. When I

started BFL I realized that nearly everybody here was adding Udo's or flax oil

for their healthy fats. So, I felt right at home (on the Zone it was fish oil).

Then I started doing more of a Peak Physiques plan, where instead of mostly oil,

your healthy fats were mostly food - almonds, peanut butter, avocado. Fat still

makes up around 30% of my diet, and I zig zag as high as 2,300 cals a day. So,

that's as many as 76g of fat! Honestly, I thought was slightly nuts (no

pun intended). LOL But my last blood test, my total cholesterol was 154, down

from 199. So, hey, something's working!

I've never tried almond butter. That's on my list of things to look at when I

finally make it over to the new Whole Foods Market.

,

So you can do higher fats on PP? After eating

practically a whole salmon I started feeling a lot

better and then I read " The Omega-3 Connection " which

is about depression and Omega-3 fats. So I take Udo's

& fish oil every day now and am off the

antidepressents. I've seen your pics on your website.

They're great. It's reasuring to know that you are

doing healthy fats. Makes me think maybe I'm on the

right track. And your cholesterol numbers. Wow!

<<So you can do higher fats on PP?>>

Yes, fats seem to fall around 30-35% on Peak Physiques. You get 2-3 fat portions

a day, and they include real butter and real cheese along with the traditional

list of healthy fats. even talked me into eating egg yolks again! The dog

was really disappointed when I quit tossing her my yolks.
