Guest guest
ok Kathy, that was my first cry of the day... So glad hes adjusting well. If you got your first record player, do you think hes ready for a cd player? then go to like target and find those kids bop cds that are kids singing popular songs? Another thought I have is taking him to radio city? or going to the ice capades? the boys here are saying a hess truck, action figures, match box cars. How bout like his own dvd player for his room? I think hes still too young for video games. Maybe something computer related- like amanda had this beginning computer when she was little i think it was alphie something or how bout those leap frog thingies- or a switch board (skate board with a handle - jesse loved that) or a scooter. by now i am just rambling. Dont you miss that sears catalogue that we all picked out our gifts from???? Oh- how about a table top game like air hockey or something???? Guest guest
Kathy, Santa is bringing Video Now - along with some DVD's for that toy. I found a Sponge Bob one at Target - I think they are a hot item this year?!?! Ninetendo, gamecube and other video games are great - our kids seem to have a unique ability to master many of those games (when us parents can't even figure out how to move an object and figure out how to get to the next level). What about a basketball hoop (medium size) - we have gotten our money's worth out of that. Tim and I are last minute shoppers....lol! We do pick up the harder to find items after Thanksgiving though. Guest guest
I have heard wonderful things about the new ESPN Gamestation. Has basketball, golf, hockey and several other sports in an arcade style game. It is getting rave reviews. My girls have asked for it, but it won't fit in our playroom (low ceilings, it would have to sit in the middle of the room, and the room is small). Sharon H. Guest guest
Thanks for the ideas guys. Got the Basketball hoop. His uncles and boy cousins saw to that. I should probably find a kid proof CD player. He broke mine a while back. He does love music. He gets a Hess truck every year. Right now he prefers his Barney and Wiggles figures to action figures. He can ride a scooter a little, but I love the idea of a switch board. He loves watching the big kids around here on their skate boards. He plays a little knock hockey at SO, but isn't wild about it. He got Leap Frog last year and is getting more books. I think you're right on him being too young for video games. I'm going to ask his cousin to teach him a little and see how it goes. I'll also look at the Leapster. I love the idea of having something portable like that that he can take along to the many doctors appointments he has coming up. Yes, I do miss the Sears catalog. I look at the toys r us book, but it's not the same. Kathy, Liam's Mom ( 6)

HI Kathy I am in such a mess over Christmas gifts for Sara. Her birthday is the 30th (Nov) and I can't think of anything to get her for this either. I would say a dvd but unless a new comes out soon this is a no go. If her dad is not buying her dvds her sisters are ........... she reminds all that she has worked hard for her dvds lol At age 12 (almost 13) her activities at home consists of watching her dvds, writing on tablet paper ............ She loves to write playing a few computer games ........... no, Nintendo, she hates the games, they stress her out. She talks on the phone, plays simple games with her nephew. Plays games outside, Really she is happy with what she has and only has requested dresses lol During the Thanksgiving holiday I'll be slammed for ideas on my kids, from my siblings and I have no idea what to say. Since Sara is a movie buff I am thinking about maybe starting a collection of old Shirley Temple movies or something like that. Some thing old and classic. She has more makeup than Tammy Faye Baker, anything electronic she has, so if anyone has any ideas send my way My older kids are easier, my sibs get them gift certificates lol Kathy mom to Sara 12 ..................... 13 in nine days ¸...¸ ___/ /\ \___ ¸...¸ ,·´º o`·, /__/ _/\_ \__\ ,·´º o`·, ```)¨(´´´ | | | | | | | | | ```)¨(´´´ ¸,.-·²°´ ¸,.-·~·~·-.,¸ `°²·-.¸ As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Guest guest
Does she have a desk where she writes? My Mom gave a desk set for her birthday. Not the pad, but the organizers where she puts her pens, pencils, tape, paper clips, etc.. loves it. She also got a lap desk, one of those that has a pillow on the bottom, desk on top to use when she is sitting on the floor or on the couch. She puts that to great use. Another thing my Mom bought the girls that is getting tons of use are adjustable chairs, called posture chairs. They are to use when you sit on the floor reading, watching TV or whatever. They are thickly padded and adjustable to 5 different settings. The girls love theirs, and use them all the time. They also aren't heavy and can be carried from room to room. I included the link to them below. www.improvementscatalog.com/product.asp?product=182040zz & dept%5Fid=13140 Best of luck with your shopping! I am not done either. Sharon H.
Sharon H. HI Kathy I am in such a mess over Christmas gifts for Sara. Her birthday is the 30th (Nov) and I can't think of anything to get her for this either. I would say a dvd but unless a new comes out soon this is a no go. Guest guest
Hey Kathy, Wow the big real teenage years- good luck with that! i found that what amanda really wants in her teen years are cds and clothes- yes clothes like the ones Lizzie wears. She also is a shopper so she loves gift cards. Because she is growing up so fast, with gift cards, she gets to show and use her independence by chosing her own stuff. also likes things for her room like Lizzie sheets and the assesories that go with them. She always needs a new cd player because she has broken like 4. she's got her own tv/vcr which she loves- its in her room. for her bd she got a violin and violin lessons- that is what she has been wanting for the longest time. She is doing very well with her lessons and already had a mini concert! I am getting jesse guitar lessons for xmas- he is the real musician in the family. I find the older they get, they easier it is and now i almost never have to go to a toy store at all!

Guest guest
I'd say gift cards with maybe a little gift like nail polish or something? (from your sibs) loves to buy her own stuff, and while she's not good with money at least it's a hugh improvement over the just picking it up and thinking you can keep it. LOL Does she have a cd player....a small stereo....hmmm would she like a key board? oh a karoke machine? course she probably has all those. Sorry you're on your own, i have my own problems thinking of things for . :-) joy At age 12 (almost 13) her activities at home consists of watching her dvds, writing on tablet paper ............ Guest guest
Go to radio shack and buy the CD player and get the covereage for it. If it gets broken you get a new one. Electronic Boutique does this also with xbox games and so on. Jean
