Guest guest
I am posting this on Jo's request. Two days ago Jo had some really bad seizures, they would last for an hour with one barely stopping before the next started. Johanna has written a paper saying that she doesn't want to go to the hospital or have any medical testing, with a few exeptions. So, basically they can't check her brain. These seizures left Jo more or less as a vegie. She can't speak or control any of her body movements, before I tell you more about it I'll just let you know what the doctors said about it. They said that her affects from the seizures are bad, but that it was to be expected since she was in seizure for more or less an hour. It is something that can pass, but they have to get control over the seizures first. After that one hour long fit of seizures she had 3 more the same day and an other 5 yesterday. Jo is very spastic at the moment, she is too weak to get her legs to move, but you can see the spasms. As you probably already know, Jo has been very bad off the last month leaving her with an arm without any feeling in, or ability to move. That is also the only part of her body that isn't spastic. They are working with her right arm to try to get it functioning, but at the moment there is no progress. They tell her to move it to the right but it just goes wherever. She can't grad anything, but if she happens to do that she doesn't know how to let go. Her fingers are going in different directions and they look very stiff. She doesn't have any speach, she tries to talk but it just comes out as 'ehh' and then she gets frustrated when we don't understand what she is saying. Her face is twisted and she doesn't know how to swollow, so she is drooling, which is the worst part of it (imo). She seems to be chewing but without getting her teeth together and her toung is making weird movements half outside her mouth. They say it's probably because she is trying to swollow. The only way to communicate with her is to ask yes or no questions which she sometimes succesfully answeres by closing her eyes once or twice. She can't type ot do anything else, she even keeps having spasms when they tell her to relax. It is all a mess. But I asked her if I should let you know, and she said yes. Hopefully they'll get her right hand to funtion somewhat so that she can express some of her feelings at least. As it is now she is totally dependent on what we ask her, and sometimes she even fails to answere that. Sincerely, Jo's brother.
