Hi Shaye,

I wasn't at the gathering last year, but will be there this year...can't

wait.

Could you explain what a Yankee swap is?

And what is the garage sale thing you referred to?

As for demos. I would love to see a Xyron demo. I have one but don't know

what to do with it.

Have a great day!

The topic I would like is more on the business side of thing. I would like

to know more about how people keep their inventory and financial records. I

started this business from a hobby business and when I did my taxes this year

I had no idea what my ending inventory was...uuuggghhh...so, I would like to

get things in order.

Looks like I will be able to attend after all. I received my rejection letter

from the Corn Hill Festival yesterday. : (

First time I've been rejected from a show, not that I have done many big, big

ones like this, but still it hurts.

Anyway, I'm with La Shonda-- I've been in biz for how many years now, 4 or 5,

and I still have horrible record keeping skills. Although my accountant has

never asked me for an inventory. Not sure why you would need to do one?

Ohhhh, . Gosh, I am so sorry. I know its no consolation, but there's

always next year to try again. Hopefully they will let you know why.

Best of luck to you in your shows!

Oh, ditto on this one! When I first started I had to choose my method of

accounting and I chose inventory. Now I'm wishing I hadn't. It's been a real

pain. I can change to the other method but have to fill out some form. I've been

a big procrastinator! I have MYOB accounting software which handles inventory,

etc... and I know it could be a really great program if I used it to it's

potential. I start out great and then fizzle out within a couple of months.

Right now I'm just using it to print invoices and keep customer info. I'm not

great with accounting so if anyone can help with this and do some sort of

demo/lecture, it would be awesome!

,

Sorry to hear about Corn Hill. I know what you mean. I was rejected from the

Sonnenberg Garden Art Show when it first started and my feelings were pretty

hurt. They still mail me applications and I just toss them. For $200, I guess

it's not worth the stress. :-) Sometimes I think these large shows have such a

waiting list of vendors and they give priority to existing vendors so that makes

it even harder to get in. I'm glad you can make it to the gathering now!

Hi La Shonda, I live in Western, NY. I will have to ask dh about directions,

I'm terrible giving someone directions. Maybe we can do a mapquest. Give me

your street address, town and zip. There is a Holiday Inn close to me and some

other hotels in the area that are about 15 minutes away. I may have a pop-up

camper by then and someone could use that and we definitely have a big tent we

could put up in the yard and I have an extra bedroom if somone wants to use it.

I'm very excited about this!

Gathering - July 12

I need to know the location of the event and what hotels are in the area.

Also maybe some directions. I will be coming from northern NJ (NYC area) and

I know the ride is gonna be a good 5 hours. I would like to get myself

together well in advance. Any info would be great.

Thanks,

La Shonda

Oh , I'm sorry to hear you didn't get into Corn Hill. I don't even go

anymore, it's all artsy fartsy stuff, too hot, too many people. You don't need

'em! (There, did that make you feel better?)

Oh me too, my other business has always been service so inventory is new for me

too. Usually I just keep everything in a spreadsheet and give to my accountant

at the end of the year but I told dh I would do our taxes next year as she never

gives us a break and we have sent her at least 50 new clients in the past 5

years. Everything is on her computer and she just plugs in the current numbers.

Thanks everyone for the sympathy. : ( I'll get over it, and now I get to come

to the gathering! I can hardly wait! And yes Dee, that did make me feel

better! : ) Also, as I'm so close to you, I'll be insistant that you let me

help. I

have an EZ Up we can use if needed, and tables too.
