Eating only when hungry

I understand that the other side of the " CR " equation is " ON " -Optimum

nutrition. It's the " ON " in CRON that keeps me eating at regular

intervals during the day. But here is the kicker .. I feel as though I

have to eat even when NOT hungry just to reach the theoretical RDA's

for the day. As a result I'm consuming more food than I probably would

than if I let hunger drive my meal frequency.

Recently the notion has occurred to me to wait until I actually FEEL

genuine hunger, ever so slightly, to begin the next meal. Not

referring to serious hunger or anorexia or anything like that extreme

which is very unhealthy, but simply slight hunger " pangs " .

I want to get the list's opinion. So haven't tried this yet but I

think this would lead me to eating less food on the whole, sometimes

going an entire day without eating or eating only one meal, but

probably not reach the RDA's for the day. But pretty certain I would

eat less than I do now.

Often in past I would miss a meal inadvertently but feel pretty darn

good anyway, even " energized " , and not feel least bit hungry or very

slightly.

Most ad libbers eat for entertainment rather than genuine hunger or

need and most haven't experienced genuine hunger pangs for many years.

We've all eaten for pleasure purposes at one time or another. But

what does the list think about using the sensation of SLIGHT hunger to

drive meal frequency? Eat when hungry, in simple terms?
