Yellow Page taking us out of physician listing

Hey everyone. Verizon Yellow pages informed me that they were doing away with the Physicians Listing for chiropractors and only having a chiropractor listing. I thought we had fought long and hard to obtain physician status in this state, and I didn't like the idea of being booted out of the physician listing. I don't have a big ego deal about "PHYsician", but I thought it may be the start of the powers that be scratching away at what we do have. (Yes, paranoia strikes again). So.... I called the state CAO organization pres to speak with VErizon. He kindly took time out of his schedule to pursue this issue. By the way, I advertize in both Chiropractor and Physician sections. VErizon called back today, after checking with their head office, to say they are indeed taking us out of the physician heading. They are going to have two headings under chiropractor....one Chiropractor-chiropractor, and the other Chiropractor-physician. How lame is that???? Anyone have any feedback or comments on this issue. From a monetary viewpoint, I really would like us to be all under one place. Would people consider signing a letter to the company about next year's advertising, etc......whatever could be scripted and decided upon. What do you think????

Don:

I wouldn't get too excited about Verizon Yellow pages. The main one

is U.S. Dex. I have rarely encountered the Dex version. When it is delivered

to me I immediately recycle it.

OregonDCs rules:

1. Keep correspondence professional; the purpose of the listserve

is to foster communication and collegiality. No personal attacks on listserve

members will be tolerated.

2. Always sign your e-mails with your first and last name.

3. The listserve is not secure; your e-mail could end up anywhere.

However, it is against the rules of the listserve to copy, print, forward,

or otherwise distribute correspondence written by another member without

his or her consent, unless all personal identifiers have been removed.

Dr Feinberg was polite enough to call this prejudice and ignorance. I heartily disagree..... this is another example of raw discrimination and classism, (racism), why not tell Verizon to watch you advertise elsewhere?

Yes, we should formulate a letter from BOTH state organizations, and then we should all COMPARE AD RATES!!! We've been fighting with Verizon down here on the Southern Oregon Coast for 2 years, and they do some "very questionable" things with their rates... A class action lawsuit would be another possibility. Any thots from the legal minds out there?
