Guest guest
Hi, I'll keep the long story brief- but amanda got invited to a party this past weekend! She was thrilled to be asked and couldnt stop talking about it all week. She was even saying, " I have a new friend- Kendra " . Interesting thing though, they know each other for about 4 years, and never really hit it off- they are in the same socialization group for teens with special needs. Anyway, there were 8 girls all with special needs- ranging in age from 14-18. They met at Kendra's house, went out for lunch, to a movie and then back to Kendra's for cake. When I got there to pick her up, they were all listening to music and dancing. She had a fabulous time. In fact, I got there at 3:15, stayed till 4:30 talking to her mom and then left to go get my son and came back because she didnt want to leave! So I was thinking, this might be something to start- maybe having like 4 of them at a time over to my house on a friday night so they could listen to music or watch a movie and then maybe we could switch houses. It's really quite heart- warming to see this happen, especially after my response to the post about her not having friends. ~ Mom to 14 DS and Diabetes Type 1 and 10 NYC
