Usually one gets only one zap the way you mensioned. But if for one

reason or another you get more than one in a row (during 24 hours),

then the cardios want you in to monitor and eventually help stabilize

your heart rhythm. I had another zap in the hospital and so I was put

on amiodarone IV (intravenous) for 24 hours. That helped.

I had my my ICD implanted in March -06 and these were my first zaps.
