Guest guest Posted July 5, 2004 Report Share Posted July 5, 2004 I always end up regretting these family get togethers for some reason. this time my husbands cousin was questioning our " parenting skills " because we made Nic sit in time-out twice during the picnic. Luckily for her I wasn't present when she made her comments. She asked bob why we were SO strict with him making him sit in a chair so much (again, only 2 times in a 4 hour period). I was so mad! I wanted to go off but it not being my house or blood relatives (LOL) I kept my mouth shut. we left shortly afterwards. I walked into the conversation with her saying when her kids were small they only got spanked once for each year they were and then only for as long as they were in diapers. I wasn't sure why she was saying that until we were packing up the car to leave and Bob told me what she had said to him. I'm glad I only see her once every 4-5 years! I love how people have so much more knowledge than us as to how to handle these situations. They LOVE to give advice about how we should " parent " our kids! UGH. It makes me so mad! I made a few changes to an old adage and it now goes like this: You can't talk the talk, UNTIL you walk the walk, cause you don't know the language!! My very own Loreeism made up because of situation's just like yours. Loree Family Picnic-UGH!
