Guest guest
Dr. McGill: re: ASHN: I don't know about the VA question; However, I no longer deal with ASHN for reasons I won't elaborate here. My own past experience with these folks suggest your comment over coverage for chiro benefits is accurate. J. Pedersen DC
Guest guest
Dr. McGill, ASHN has been discussed as infinitum on this listserve ... for a synopsis of that discussion, you might want to place a call to Dr. Bob Manners in Gold Beach (541-247-4330) (and yes, on this issue, I do have permission to give out his phone #) and ask him about his experience with that firm. Guest guest
If you aren't signed up, you get nothing. I have repeatedly run in to that. They tell people there is a non provider coverage. There is- it is nothing. Their reimbursement is the worst and you have to do preapproval, and they will cut your request everytime. Don't do it. If medicare patients switch, they don't have medicare anymore. They are screwed. AHCN is a bad deal. Do you forward this information. If is personal and intended only for the person whose name is at the top. Ann Goldeen, Astoria V.A. / HealthNet Docs:I treated a veteran today who said that someone at the VA hospital in Portland told him that the VA has now stopped paying for chiropractic. Is this true? Also, several of our Medicare patients are signing up for HealthNet, which has chiropractic coverage managed by ASHN. Once they do, have they signed away their regular Medicare coverage? We charge $28 to Medicare patients (as a non-participating provider), and Medicare usually pays $24.06 of that amount and the patient pays $3.94 . According to a patient on HealthNet, there is a $15 co-pay each visit and ASHN pays the rest, which is still probably a discounted amount. Guest guest
Well said Ann, however given the truth of the message it should (theoretically) be forwarded to as many people as posible. It's absolutely insane. Again i'll repeat what i do with a lot of the patients under their umbrella of communist medicine, i try converting them to cash explaining: "look this is your co pay, this is what you get for your co pay. This is the difference in the rate if you pay out of pocket, this is what you get when you pay out of pocket. See the difference? Most people want more than just the adjustment and their bodies need more than that too. Most people also want to come in as much as they and we want them too, not what their insurance dictates. AsHn pays for NO therapy. Hope i'm within legal limits in doing so, but it seems to really work and patients get it!!
