Guest guest
Hi , Unsaturated fatty acids can be obtained from: 1) Flax seeds ... probably the best source, especially when crunched between the teeth; 2) flax oi ... buy small quantities and in dark bottles and keep it in the refrigeratoras it goes rancid fairly quickly; discard if rancid; 3) Olives and olive oil 4) Nuts... walnuts are the most power packed butr most all of them are good 5) Avocados 6) Cold water fishes .... current levels of heavy metal contamination make this less desirable. Guest guest
so what's the difference between HUFA (highly unsaturated) and PUFA (poly unsaturated) fatty acids? K. Guest guest
True , gotta love those fish burps. I haven't tried it, but Metagenics has varieties that are flavored that they say don't " repeat " as we used to say down South. I use Vital Nutrients because it's independently certified free of mercury, PCBs, heavy metals, dioxins, blah, blah. , you might want to check out Schmidt's book, Smart Fats, or the Omega3 Connection (don't recall the author). >From: " Colwell " <johncc48@...> ><carpentier@...>, < >, " sunny >Kierstyn " <skrndc1@...> >Subject: Re: HUFA >Date: Wed, 24 Nov 2004 17:07:16 -0800 > >Fish oil is one of the less palatable but BEST sources! Guest guest
In a message dated 11/24/2004 2:44:53 PM US Mountain Standard Time, skrndc1@... writes: 1) Flax seeds ... probably the best source, especially when crunched between the teeth; But for most it is a poor source of omega 3 fatty acids, because about half of all humans lack delta-6-desaturase. This enzyme converts Omega 3 of flax into a bioavailable form. Fish oils are already bioavailable. Pure encapsulations uses 6 different independant labs to evaluate each and every batch of every vitamin product they make and they post the results online and also regularly send all doctors a CD with various test results. All of the fish oils are certified free of heavy metals - and they get most of their fish oils from wild salmon and krill. But I saw one study that indicated fish oils are safe because heavy metals are not found in the expressed oils. Anglen
