Guest guest
Yesterday was Nic's IEP. As I suspected, they are trying to move Nic from PT learning support to Full Time (which is at another school in the district). The director of SPED said there is certain criteria Nic needs to meet to be in PT-basically she said he isn't " up to the level " . That he requires too much curriculum modification for science & social studies and that he is not attending while in the reg classroom. Fortunately, the principal was very supportive of me and insisted there must be things we can do to make this work for Nic. Where would I find this policy or criteria? I think she may be trying to snow me. Di
Guest guest
I did 4 hours of homework yesterday to find this " criteria " and stumbled upon this on the PATTAN website. It was a Q & A section. (At the meeting she was saying that if we reduce the time he is in the regular ed class then he wouldn't meet the criteria for Part-Time learning support.) " Has the Bureau of Special Education developed percentage of time guidelines (under section VI-Least Restrictive Environment [of the IEP]) that the IEP Team could use to determine the types of service (Part-Time, Full-Time, Itinerant or Resource) also under section VI-Least Restrictive Environment? Answer: No. They are not related. Special Education is a service not a place. So, I think I'll ask her anyway for this criteria (in writing of course) to see what I get, then I'll spring this on her at some point.
