The final product goes by different names in different parts of the country. In Hawaii it's " shaved ice " . In Boston it's a " snowcone " . In Baltimore it's a " Snowball " . Here's a supplier in Baltimore - check out the flavors at http://koldkiss.com/flavors.html - Becky
Guest guest
Hi All, Last weekend, came home and stated that her boyfriend had told her and this was a well known fact - that there is no such thing as Cordial in America. For us cordial is a flavouring - syrup - non alcoholic, which water is added to. Comes in many flavours such as Lime, Lemon, Orange, Lemon/Lime, Orange/Lemon. More often served as a children's drink, or on a hot day with loads of ice-cubes. I am gathering you do have this, but probably known by a different name - looking forward to your replies. Thanks Jan, mother of Trent 20yo w/DS, 23, Shannen 18, 24, the MOTH, the cat and the goat all from the Land DownUnder - Australia.
Guest guest
In the UK we call this squash which really confused some US friends of mine in Hong Kong becoz squash is (I believe) a vegetable in the states! We also call it juice but its not really juice becoz strictly speaking pure fruit juice is juice and squash a poor substitute (but heaps cheaper!!) sue wong Question - non D/S > > > Hi All, > Last weekend, came home and stated that her boyfriend > had told her and this was a well known fact - that there is no such > thing as Cordial in America. > For us cordial is a flavouring - syrup - non alcoholic, which water > is added to. Guest guest
Here a cordial is an after dinner alcoholic drink. Usually something like blackberry brandy or ameratto- something sweet and yummy. I am not familiar with the hot fruity drink you have down under.... Guest guest
what is now called squash her in the UK used to be called cordial when I was growing up. Cordial is more syrupy than squash and you don't need as much of the syrup to make the drink taste good as you do with squash. We also have legal requirements as to the difference between what is called squash and a juice drink. It is to do with the amount of actual fruit juice in the drink. We do still have cordial. Nowadays it normally comes in lime, blackcurrant and ginger and is much more readily available at Christmas when it is used to mix with acoholic drinks. Only so well up on this because I was trying to buy blackcurrant cordial for a friend of mine in WV as she had had some blackcurrant tea someplace and wanted to try make some herself. I actually took her a product called Ribena which she liked very much Allyson
