Guest guest
Thanks for you empathy. ;-) Re your questions: I actually had 7 shocks. The ICD fired once while I was at work. I had felt fine and had no symptoms nor warning. I went to EP's office and had a lengthy interrogation and they found nothing unusual with my heart and nothing wrong with the device. They did find one tiny bleep on the wire, but couldn't get it to repeat. The next day after my EP and the Medtronic tech analyzed the data, I was told that it might be the beginning of a problem with the lead wire and there was nothing to be done at the time, except to not do anything excessively strenuous and get back in touch with them if I got another shock. Ten days later, just after I returned home from work I got the six shocks in a row. I was very tired that evening, but had no unusual symptoms or warnings. The first 2 or 3 of the shocks came within a minute or two. Four of the zaps came before Paramedics arrived and the last two came after they arrived and I was wired to their heart monitor. I had a NSR during those zaps. Where was the break? -- There were 3 or perhaps 4 breaks (I forget which) in the wire according to the ER Medtronic Tech. To my knowledge, no one knows how the fractures happened. Best of luck with your situation, and I hope this helps. Teri
