Rimonabant acts as an inhibitor at cannabinoid receptors -- it takes all the fun out of puffing weed. Rimonabant was a high hope as a treatment for the " metabolic syndrome " -- it not only causes weight loss, but it seems to inhbit the pernicious metabolic activity of abdonimal fat cells -- blood lipids, CRP, insulin resistance and other risk factors drop more than can be accounted for by the weight loss.
