Guest guest
I supplement with flax oil or flax seed meal (depends on my mood and breakfast that day). All these contradictory studies on fats makes one wonder if the Ornish, Pritikin, et al folk have it right when they just try to limit them altogether to 10% of calories. - www.zenpawn.com/vegblog --- In , " mikesheldrick " <mike@...> wrote: > > If you eat fish daily, perhaps a pacemaker is in order > > Mike > > http://tinyurl.com/f9yuf
Guest guest
Well, I'm a vegetarian, so I consume flax oil in lieu of fish oil to obtain my omega-3's. But, yes, the contradictory studies are, of course, a concern. - www.zenpawn.com/vegblog > > >>I supplement with flax oil or flax seed meal > (depends on my mood and breakfast that day). > > If contradictory studies and " evidence " are your concern,... where is the studies and evidence supporting the above? > > there is evidence that too much ALA may increase risk of some cancers. > > I dont know of any studies supporting the use of Flax Seed Oil > > Jeff
Guest guest
Hi folks: The japanese, IIRC, consume an average of 200 g of fish per day. They have VERY few deaths from heart disease (6% of total deaths I believe) which is far fewer than among populations that eat the much- touted 'Mediterranean Diet' ........... which makes one wonder why people tout it so much. But the japanese have high death rates from stroke and stomach cancer - both the result, my guess, of their very high salt intake. How much credit for their low level of heart disease can be attributed to each of the characteristics of the japanese is not known. But it could certainly be argued that perhaps the lion's share of the credit should go to the fact they each FEWER CALORIES than in most other cultures, rather than on some specific magic ingredient. But certainly their fish intake is not a disadvantage in this respoect. Omegas 3s are not difficult to obtain on a whole food diet. And, there are better plant based concentrated sources to choose from such as flax seeds and walnuts. Flax seed oil is a highly unstable, easily oxidized oil > > >>But, yes, the contradictory studies are, > of course, a concern. > > I dont think there are as many contradictions in reality as there are in the way the media may present info to us. Guest guest
Francesca, How is raw fish consumption related to stomach cancer? (I enjoy sushi on occasion). Dave > > >
