A CALL TO ACTION

ADVOCACY PLANNING FOR THE EDUCATION

OF STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES

A Call to Action is geared towards older students, parents, advocates, and

attorneys who represent students. Educators are welcome.

Group sessions will be held in the morning and at the end of the day. The

afternoon will have three sessions running concurrently and repeated one time

during the afternoon.

The $10.00 registration fee covers materials and a box lunch. A 48 hour

cancellation notice is required for reimbursement of fee. Registration must be

received by October 13 in order to guarantee lunch. Make checks payable to the

Learn more about the monitoring process and how it is multi-faceted, continuous,

data-driven, in partnership with key stakeholders, and premised on ensuring

improved results for students with disabilities.

Second Action Sessions 2:00 PM - 3:15 PM

Final Group Session 3:15 PM - 4:30 PM

This is a time for everyone to review the information that has been exchanged

and prepare for the next steps necessary for achieving change and improvements

in the education process for students with disabilities in Virginia.

The Virginia Coalition for Students with Disabilities began meeting in 1994 to

address issues impacting students with disabilities. The Coalition is comprised

of individuals and organizations that have expressed a desire to work together.

DIRECTIONS TO THE UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND

From the East or WEST via I64:

I-64 Take Exit 183/Glenside Drive South. Continue south on Glenside Drive

(which merges/changes name to Horsepen Rd.) to Three Chopt Road. Turn left on

Three Chopt. Follow Three Chopt to Boatwright Drive. Turn right on Boatwright.

Follow on campus directions below.

From the SOUTHWEST: US 360 (Hull Street Road)

Turn left on State Route 653 (Courthouse Road), continue on State Road 653, this

will become State Route 147 (Huguenot Road) Continue to Three Chopt Road, turn

left on Three Chopt. Follow to Towana Drive and then make left at campus

entrance. Follow on campus directions below.

From the NORTH: I-95, US 1, US 301,

(Do Not Take I-295) Take Exit 79 to I-64 west, continue west on I-64 to Exit

183-A/Glenside Drive South. Continue south on Glenside Drive (which

merges/changes name to Horsepen Rd.) to Three Chopt Road. Turn left on Three

Chopt. Follow Three Chopt to Boatwright Drive, turn right on Boatwright and

follow on campus directions below.

From the SOUTH:

I-85 to I-95 Take Exit 67/State Route 150 (Chippenham Parkway), continue to

State Route 147 (Huguenot Road), turn right on State Route 147.

Continue across River (Huguenot Bridge), turn left on River Road, turn

right on University of Richmond Drive. Turn right on Westhampton and left on

Richmond Way. Follow to parking at Law School.

On campus to Law School from Boatwright Dr:

(Large green University of Richmond sign will be here.) Travel to bottom of

hill and turn left on Campus Drive at brick entrance. Turn right on Gateway

Road. Make another immediate right turn. The first parking lot on the left is

the Law School parking lot. Visitor parking is available along hedged area upon

entering lot.

Returning to I-64 from Campus:

Street positions and names are somewhat confusing to area visitors. From Three

Chopt Road, drivers should turn right onto the street named Horsepen Road

to return to I-64. This street’s name changes to Glenside Drive and

leads to I-64.
