Guest guest
--- Hang on in there Ann, keep thinking positive and imagine how worse it could get. One thought, and not sure if she is really old enough to understand, is a punishment/consequence for her action - ie. after the 'painting session' a cold bath - that is very drastic but maybe you could come up with something more suitable. It may be a phase she is going thru, but if you don't try and stop her, it could last a lot longer than you can cope with safely. All the best, Jan, mother of Trent, now 20 w/DS, from the land of Oz. Guest guest
You're not alone!!! did this when he was about 3 or 4. I remember it well. My suggestion: OVERALLS!! Don't give her the opportunity. But, then again, I HATE stuff like that and would prefer a clean, sanitary house over teaching a lesson. But you could certainly do both. I have always talked about how dirty " poop " is and how it can make us sick if we get it into our mouths accidentally. IT WILL PASS!!! in Dallas Vickie is driving me crazy Vickie is really testing my patience right now... she has developed a rather disgusting habit and it involves painting herself and lets just say it is not with magic markers but with more organic material..... its happening all the time now.... last night I went into the kitchen to make dinner and she was with her brother he was on the computer... all of a sudden i start smelling an odor.... walk back in and oh my god..... it could happen within a 1/2 hour of a new diaper and I just don't understand.... Guest guest
Hey Sista, Don't worry, its actually a phase call " smearing " . An iccky, disgusting phase. Sammy did it and boy was he ever good at it. I'd say the Rembrandt of poo. He was about the same age Vicky is now. Trust me, its short-lived phase too. I thought about sending some of my walls to the Brooklyn Museum, but then Guiliani might try to shut it down again. Just invest in alot of windex, clorox and rubber gloves and you'll get through it. Guest guest
Ann, I honestly think this is a stage of toilet training. It may last a bit longer than it would for a typical child - but take this as a good sign. I think was in this stage for about 4-6 months. Buy lots of little girl underwear, buy some cheap rugs to throw down on the floor and keep cleaning supplies ready. The diaper stage appears to be nearing it's end for Vickie! Guest guest
I have no advice but my friend's son(w/DS) went thru this too. He actually smeared it into the baseboard heating-you know, into those slits. Took her hours to get it all out.
