Guest guest
Hi everyone, have a patient with tedious medial epicondylitis. He has had it for about 3 months with no marked improvement, ice and other anti-inflammatory's only cease the pain temporarily. He claims that he wakes in the morning to even more pain and stiffness that eventually subsides to the normal pain level. We have tried a whole host of things, ultra sound, frictional massasge, gentle stretching, ice, rest, braces, adjusting. The patient has not been able (with my recommendation) to perform his hobbies of fishing and guitar playing and understandably is becoming frustrated. NOthing seems to create any progress. Referral???? Would greatly appreciate any thoughts or ideas my fellow colleagues may have on the matter. Many Thanks, Joe Medlin, D.C.PDX
Guest guest
Have you considered imaging? Is there any possibility of some kind of crack? J. Pedersen DC
Guest guest
Hi Joe, Graston Technique is effective and may help to point out myofascial causes/referral sites in the shoulder girdle and neck that may contribute via scleratogenous referral. If he's a side sleeper waking with increased pain, make sure you check for trigger points in his subscap. 4 of us in Portland are certified in GT. Guest guest
Joe, I treat these effectively seeems like almost every week with my cold laser, there is just nothing that compares with laser for the' itis 'conditions. Muscle pulls also heal very quickly with this method. I had a high school football player with a bad hamstring pull quit limping after one treatment this week, where two weeks of traditional PT and modalities had done little for him. Give me a call and we can see if this guy can be helped.
