Don't like sand or sand fleas. Burn like crazy in the sun. Love to swim in the

ocean but tend to get nibbled with my big WHITE legs. The Atlantic is so nasty

that you can't see your feet. I'd go to the Bahamas to the beach. I'm a

mountain person myself. West Va., Va., the Rockies, Hawaii, all great

mountains. North GA has some great ones too.

Beached!

Hi,

I have no idea why anyone would go anywhere else besides the beach for a

vaca. We just got back from delaware- dewey and rohoboth beaches. it was

awesome! we stayed a 1/2 block away from the beach. the waves were a little

rough,

but i managed to brave them and got in.

my son jesse was boogie boarding, body surfing and skim boarding. My husband

ralph, thinks he can body surf and scraped his head, belly, legs and arms in

the process.

I had a lot of sea food and dinner at jakes- an early bd dinner for amanda.

we all cried today when we had to leave....

now about amanda- well we were there with our friends- my friend, her husband

and their just turned15 year old daughter who is also amanda's 'friend'.

well amanda's friend met some cute guys- the jesses (believe it or not, they

were

both named jesse). they were very sweet toward amanda- telling her she was

cute and wishing her a happy birthday. she was very struck by them - but she

couldnt hang out with them and her friend sorta desserted her for them.

it just is so sad to see that amanda is very typically a teen and wants to be

like everyone else, but she just cant- its so hard to see where and how she

fits in....

~ mom to amanda DS- the very soon to be 14 year old and jesse, 10

Tim and I are trying to fit in a weekend at Dewey/Rehobeth. I love the

ocean - but that is not a beach I would swim in - the carolina beaches are

more my pick! The last time we went there, we met up with another couple

from this list and had a memorable dinner at Coconuts (memorable b/c tim

picked up the tab for 12 people and it was only 120.00 and several of us had

lobster dinners!)

Elaine - I'm getting my mountain fix in 2 weeks - we are headed home for

Labor Day weekend - my first trip home since 1/2003!

NO NO NO you all are missing the big picture lol think, sitting on the beach,

at sunrise and only hear the sound of the waves coming in. Sara is usually

sitting at my side asking me how big this water is? or something similar in

depth. Then we go back to silence :) if we get there early enough, our

footprints

are the only ones on the beach, almost like we are the only ones on this earth

:) its awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh Kathy - you hit the nail on the head. The beach is the place for me also.

I have a friend that feels the same way about the mountains as I do for the

beach. A nurse at work that grew up on a farm in Iowa feels the same way about

the fields on her parents farm.

I do have to say that is one of the nice things about living here, so close to

the beach. Sometimes I will drop the kids off at school and go walking on the

beach. Can't tell the girls that though, they would have a hissy to think I

went without them!

When is Sara's BD? Our girls will both be official teenagers soon!

Last year I was at a conference in Virginia Beach. Tim came down the next

evening and brought . I took out on the beach and off he

went. I'm running like a wild woman to catch up with him and finally did!

does enjoy the sensory stuff from the waves. prefers the

pool - but he will ask to go to the beach 1-2 a day for short periods.

Elaine - Myrtle's water is sometimes so clear - I've never seen it dirty,

just not as clear at times. Miami and the keys are beautiful - very clear

(and Tim was looking at the topless bathers and not the water!) and

Virginia's ocean water is darker - but clean (last time I went).

I could be at the beach winter, spring, summer and fall - there is something

so soothing about the waves.

The last time we were at Rehobeth, we dug a hole and put in

it...lol. When we dug him up, he wanted to be put back in. The other

listmember who was with us had to eat sand covered hotdogs from his child's

play!

I love the beach- always have. but this year i think i really enjoyed it

more cause the kids are on their sorta own. jesse swims from the moment we get

there till we leave and amanda does her own thing- listens to her cd player,

reads, sleeps, walks.

and what does one have a 10 year old son for if not to carry all the stuff to

and from the beach?

so many of my friends came to 'my' beach in coney island- it was really fun

to have friends for us, amanda and jesse too.

I will be at the beach as long as the weather is nice thru september. I am

really milking it this year!

And you didn't last year? My gosh , you took Sandy and I down to Coney

Island in the pouring rain in October :)

We really need to plan another get together soon. Kent mentioned taking

this year off - but if he has the picnic next year, we wont' be able to

attend (Katey graduates from HS that same weekend). Maybe Lancaster in

January?

ps I emailed granny tonight - maybe she will pop in soon!

water, the reply was no wrong Miami is very very clear and clean.

Leis - you have confused me further!!! :)

Fall = Autumn - when the leaves fall from the trees

Spring is Spring

For our non-aussie friends -

Aussie Autumn is - March April May

Aussie Spring is - September October November

I guessing Tim is heading downunder sometime during March/April/May

Wow, I didn't know that! I'm on a bit of a plateau - I am not journaling

like I should - but I am still losing ...just a little. I'm almost at a 40

pound loss and will have 23 to go after that.

I wouldn't mind being a leader when Tim retires. How did you become a

leader?

I guess you all don't have the core program yet. We were introduced to it

today - but I am sticking to flex for now. Have you been on any of the WW

groups at ?

ps glad to see you post again!
