Guest guest
Salt intake, and it's effects on any individual, or just that, individual effects. Not everyone will increase water uptake when they increase salt intake. There is also a human condition that results from large quantities of salt intake actually decreasing the bodies retention of water. Without the increase in fluid retention, blood pressure will still be about the same. Walk around with your stomach held tight all the time, and you can get a slight increase in BP. Getting light headed when standing is not just from BP, but from blood gases changing rapidly. As for muscle versus adipose tissue...the old rule of thumb is accurate, the heart has to pump fluids through an additional three miles of vessels for each pound of fat, is not required in other tissue types. I think anyone's heart would be happier with lots of muscle and less fat. Regards to list and JR, Don White Seguin, Tx
