Guest guest
, I take about the same regimen of meds as you do (and a few more) and have not experienced any bowel issues. In fact, I've been more regular than ever since my heart problems. As for stopping your meds....DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES TRY THIS!!! If you stop Coreg and Lisinopril you'll have a " rebound " effect. After being suppressed by the meds, your heart rate with bounce back up and might set off your ICD or lead to worse problems. About 2 years ago I was having a hard time dealing with my situation and decided to go off my meds. After 3 days my heart rate went so high it set off my defibrillator 46 times in one hour! It would shock me, recharge and shock me again because it couldn't correct the rhythm. Trust me...it was no fun and also led to a depleted battery which necessitated a new ICD. Certainly not worth it in my book. Better off letting the doctor figure it out. Good luck... Adam ============================= Adam Tel: 305-891-2326 Email: adam@... Guest guest
Another perspective from a 50 year old woman... Who is on Coreg & Lisinopril. YES - I do have those problems maybe 50% or less of the time. I think it is the Coreg. I am not big on the vetables either, but I don't have to take stool sofeners very often. Don't be shy in asking your Doc -- Many meds have this side affect. ~guin CA wrote: > > Adam, Thx for the info didnt think it would be a good idea to stop > my meds lol, in July of this year i had a shock while up on the roof > of my Rv re-coating it, ended up in the hospital for that lol doc > said no more of that stuff lol. anyway will wait til i see her and > see what she says. again thx and God Bless > > > > From: Adam <adam@...> > Subject: Re: Hi all embarssing question here > " " < > > Date: Sunday, November 2, 2008, 6:11 PM > > , > > I take about the same regimen of meds as you do (and a few more) > and have > not experienced any bowel issues. Guest guest
, you should be asking your cardiologist about this. It could be that you are not being hydrated enough because of lasix use. This is a tough problem because you need to reduce liquids to avoid heart failure but you still need a certain amount of liquids. My cardiologist restricts me to 2 quarts a day from all sources. I eat a lot of fiber (whole wheat bread, vegetables) and take Fibercon just to make sure I have enough fiber for healthy movements. Am not sure if it might have anything to do with my meds ( lastix, potissium, co-reg, lisinpril, asprin and crestor) or what ? am getting alittle concerned about this situtation, have thought about stopping all my meds and see what happens then but dont know if that would be a good idea or not. I know what most will say is to ask my dr which i plan on doing when i see her in two weeks. In the meantime i thought i would ask anyone here if they experience this also and see what they do for this. age is 59 almost 60 damn its hell getting older lol. any thoughts are apprecaited. thx john
Guest guest
some medications cause this problem also intreactons between medicaton meaning more then one can cause bowl problem but not effect each other ect so what my doctor told me is it's very commen in not just heart issuses but anyone takeing meds and also with age ! it could be related but inless your dehydrated then i doubt it is other then effects of the meds your on and dont worry it shouldt be embarssing to ask important questions ! and this as far as i'm cncerned is important as if you dont "go" then it can cause stress or if it's too hard when you go and you strain it can cause heart failure so it's a subject thats important to both heart disease and medicatons and people effeccted by all the above ! so no need to be imbarssed by this question besides it's nothign to soem of the animal groups where they celibrateing dogs "haveing bowl movements " just reminder a question thought of is a question worth asking althought there may never be a answer to all of thim hope this helps ! stacie,25 shocking life for shocking people and sean collie (aug-26-2001--may-20-2008) always and forever service dog and hero and now kira service dog and hero ! Guest guest
, I agree with all the advice you have been given. I just turned Medicare age and my doctor and I agree that getting older isn't for wimps and sissies. Joe Schmidt God Loves Us All But isn't always happy with us! Guest guest
Hi Mike,, Am wondering if also it could be taking the potissium anyway i eat whole wheat or 7 grain breads only no white bread, try to eat as much veggies and fruits as possible but they are getting alittle to expensive to buy all the time, i do take a stool softner . Its jsut i have to really strain at times to go, not peeing tho, with the Lasix (40mg a day) theres not problem on that end lol. finding that whenever i eat red meats that creates a problem so i eat chicken, fish and pork when i can. also soups. Will discuss this with my dr when i see her in two weeks and see what can be done. hate taking laxatives sinc eone can become to depepndent on them ,, not good. wondered about doing a enema but not sure how that would affect bowels. i do exercise daily try to walk at least a mile or so daily, maybe try to do more. thanks to all for your advice i appecite it, hate to ask embarssing questions, but think that since we are all family here it wold be so bad lol,, again thanks. Guest guest
Oh my gosh Adam! I couldn't imagine 46 shocks in an hour. When you said that I cringed! I received 4 in about 5 minutes and that was enough! I have been on Nadolol since 10/7 and I hate it! I have been feeling tired, depressed, cranky, short of breath and sometimes sick to my tummy! My husband is probably very annoyed of me! Oh well, hopefully my body gets used to the meds! Take care everyone!
