Guest guest
Hello, I'm new to the group but have been browsing past messages. I hope this is not redundant. I started CR to augment my antihyperlipidemia drugs (I take maximum doses of Liptor, Zetia, and Niaspan to control familial Type IIA hypercholesterolemia). With the drugs I got down from a baseline cholesterol near 400 to less than 200 with LDL less than 100. There has been some further lowering with CR but not to the point I can discontinue or lower the doses due the the familial nature of the disorder (heterozygous, missing one LDL receptor). I appreciate the other benefits of CR and plan to stick with it. I have no trouble keeping my BMI just below 18 and could go lower. Anyone have any info about possible precautions or side effects of CR with such an intense antihyperlipidemia drug regimen? Any special dietary considerations? Also is CoQ10 supplementation recommended to counteract its decrease by statins, or is lowered CoQ a good thing (what is the relationship to free radicals?). Thanks. I'm really enjoying being part of the group.
