Guest guest
Dr. Caughlin: re: "The veracity or the accuracy of these cannot be determined by me" Personally I've seen variations of that numerous times, and choose to regard it as a little legalistic footwork disassociating the reviewer with any responsibility for records forwarded to him regardless of his clinical findings....and I am proud to nearly have learned to not bristle too badly over something that may well represent what you suggest.....on the other hand, so what if it is? If your records present a strong and accurate view of the patient it will stand in court if you have to go there. I love it when in spite of the noisome and loutish opposition for rational health care from those Dark Powers, they can do nothing because of the clarity of my own chart notes..... And you are far too busy in your life to let this tweak too much at your ever-more tenuous grasp at pleasant social comportment in difficult circumstances.... Welcome to the club. a semi-quote from the Bard: "Some strive to be a-holes, some are born to be a-holes, and some have a-holeness thrust upon them....especially IMEs and Insurance Drones".... Whether that is the case with this IME, at the least you can refrain from occupying one of those positions yourself.... cheers, and yours in health, kindly Dr Pedersen Sweet Home
Guest guest
Charlie – When you respond to the IME (as I am sure you will), make the same disparaging remark about his examination findings, especially after you pick them apart in minutia. What this practitioner has done is arrogant, and professionally very self centered. It probably is somewhat self serving for future business……… after all, how can you assure that his examination was correct? Just use your charting and clinical reasoning to justify your treatment. Guest guest
Hi Charlie, I agree with Mike; however, I am sorry to say that any protests from you are likely to fall on the deaf ears of the folks who were paying $40K per month to a serial rapist so they could continue to avoid paying $500 to you for reasonable case. Despite what this Leadbetter character wrote in his report he did not state that your records were unreliable or untruthful, and thus he presents no basis for doubting any of your findings or care. I would make certain that you mention this in any rebuttal. Guest guest
Dr. Thille I disagree in the extreme with your suggestion. Always take the high road in any debate. Do not take what an insurance examiner says as a personal insult, but rather, use their our arrogance against them. You can throw their BS right back in their face, but it must be done with grace and with at least an air of seeming respect for the dumbkoff that said all those nasty things about you in the first place. If you would like, I can forward any of you several rebuttals to IME's I have done over the years. Also, Art Croft has a great section in his Whiplash & Brain Traumatology course about IME's, rebuttals to insurers, etc., that is worth reading. Take the derogatory things they say, laugh ithem off and then turn around and stick a fork in 'em with logic and truth. But do it with at least a semblance of dignity. No name calling, no insinuating comments about the man's mother (or father), and always use proper English, i.e., no swearing! Please. That's my opinion, and I could be wrong, but I don't think so in this case. Guest guest
I agree. It was early and that statement probably hit me wrong. I was speaking off the cuff and did not intend to be taken literally.
