Guest guest
We were at Children's and Shriner's from 9 to 6:30 yesterday. Karrie had a diagnos. visit first. The resident was the one who did the exam. The doctor came in, talked with me and didn't lay a hand on Karrie. He said Karrie probably has celiac disease, but did I really think it was worth the trouble of putting her on a special diet? WHAT!!! The ortho doc at Shriner's did an exam before the sediation at Children's for the MRI. She asked how long Karrie has had a heart murmur. She didn't have one, hadn't since she was 2. The doc said that she wasn't the best one to detect a heart problem, but she thought she heard a murmur. The anethesia (sp) doctor, Dr. , did a check next. He said Karrie has a heart murmur. He called the ortho doc who ordered an echo. (The first doc. didn't feel it was necessary). Unofficially, Karrie has a leaking tricuspid valve. So much for the dx. doctor. Basically, we are still waiting to see what in the heck is going on with her Thanks for all the prayers. Guest guest
Sue, has tricupid regurgitation to. She did not have a murmer at her 3 yo's cardiac check, her ecg was fine. I remember her ped. who is a great dr. for kids with ds, heard it as said something a bout a murmer but he didn't send us to the cardio, basically because he didn't see a need since she was developing fine with no signs of heart trouble. For her cardio exam at 8 she had another ecg, then because of the changes had an echo (big nightmare, hehe) she has the tricupid leak which he's following every two years. Now this summer for the cardio check they want an echo, not exactly sure why since her ped. (diffent one for the younger years because of insurance) ordered all the appointments and she didn't mention echo, but the appointment setter said after setting the appointments up that they wanted to do an echo, so perhaps it's done a couple years after puberty...since as far a we can tell she isn't having problems. so tri cuspid regurgitation isn't a reason to worry right away. evidently the ASD & PDA covered up the weak valve and it didn " t show up until a few years post surgery. btw, does this clinic/hospital send out a servey to see how good a job they are doing? if so fill it out and state how you felt about the resident. you could also talk to the head of the dept. that the resident was working in. The top dr. does listen and straightne out the drs. he's training. Good luck with the diet, there seem to be alot of alternatives available on the net for baking and stuff if you can't find them around you. Joy Unofficially, Karrie has a leaking tricuspid valve. So much for the dx. doctor.
