Guest guest
is scheduled to have his permanent tube removed in June. Has anyone gone through this and if so, what should I expect? He continues to get ear infections when he swims and with summer coming up - I want him to have fun without getting an infection. If fluid builds up, then we'll have to reinsert another tube - but I think we should try this and see first. I'm hoping and praying this will be his last ear surgery. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Guest guest
, How long have the tubes been in? 's were in over 3 years. One fell apart in her ear. we put 4-5 drops of baby oil in her ear nightly for two weeks. The Ent used the cochet like hook to remove the tube. It took less than 5 minutes. Guest guest
We just did this last month. They took the last remaining tube out (been there 3 1/2 years) and patched the hole with a tiny bit of a special paper to encourage the skin to grow across the hole. The doc said when he came out " wow, that was really in there good " , which after going to the recovery room and seeing wake up, know that it means " it's going to hurt more than the tube insertion procedure. " It's the same quick procedure as the tube insertion (under general), but for some reason, was in much more pain. I felt really bad for her. They ended up giving her Tylenol + codeine, which seemed to help a bit, but even with that she was hurting a lot. Luckily, she woke up the next day feeling fine, and I've not heard anything about her ear since. In the end, it was really no big deal, but I was a bit surprised at how much pain she was in for that first day. , mom to (11), (9 DS), and Sammy (7) Di wrote: > Nic has had a tube in his ear for several years now.
