I guess the upshot is the thread led to vegetarian diets, and I posted some problems with veggie diets as I find fewer things every year, I can eat, for various reasons.

Near as I can remember (ha).

At the beginning we were talking about the high carbo diet related to dementia.

But there are "practical" considerations of diet that go far beyond someone's idea of "nutrition".

If someone CAN'T EAT a high fat, then I guess they are doomed to dementia if there is in fact, a cause and effect. Fortunately, for high carbers, no one has established a biochem relationship yet.

One of those problems is the stuff they soak fresh food in to preserve it (no labeling required), with disregard to one's digestive process. We went though phases of super dosing with citric acid, corn syrup, tyramines in canned fish, wheat in corn cereals, soybeans in some bread, et al.

Maybe that STUFF had something to do with dementia, confounding the association observed in the study posted by Tony. It certainly had an effect on my BP, migraine headaches, and IBS.

Regards.

Hello Tony and JWI apologize, but I am losing your discussion thread here and thought I'd ask what is going on.Why are you both discussing bacteria in lettuce and on fruits? Did I miss something in previous postings? Are we having increases in bacteria on greens????Everybody [at least I thought everybody] cleans their lettuce/greens/all fruits and veggies before they eat them.Have I missed something? Why the discussion on the vinegar for killing the bacteria? Is there a rotten new outbreak in Ecoli again that I missed on the news? Thanks!Diane B, aka, the other Diane......:)......me for some nice fresh Gigli spaghetti today, ie, fresh tomatoes and basil with lemon over thin spaghetti [and black pepper and a little olive oil]...trick of the sauce is you don't cook it, just let it sit out awhile.....the perfect recipe for when it's over 90 in the shade and moving/doing anything seems to be not quite on your agenda for the day!
