Guest guest
I was just told to talk to my doctor. How long did they know about this? Mine was implanted on 2/13/07. If they knew in 3/07 why didn’t they do something sooner??? I wonder if there will be a class action suit over this.. I’m beginning to wonder if a faulty lead was the cause of all my problems. I need answers. Guest guest
Hello, I was just reading some of the Zap letters about the leads, I have also heard it on the news and read about it in the newspaper...TODAY, I get a call from Children's Hospital and my son has one of the defective leads. His was implanted in 2005...so scary. We just had a huge appt. in July where they did an interrogation of the AICD, and Echo to check his homo-graft valve replacement and the patching done in his heart. We had a good checkup, but now this. They want us back in a few weeks, for this lead problem. My son who is 19 is so disappointed and scared, as I am. I tried calling Medtronic, but was on hold for ever, so eventually hung up. I think they are probably inundated with calls over this problem...I hope we have some answers at our Dr. visit? Guest guest
Hello Laurie, We are all upset about this news. I did get through to Medtronics and they did not have much to say except 'sorry" and that I would have to discuss the problem with my physician. They also said that I should be receiving a letter from them next week. That was it..... There was a doctor from Medtronics on the chat last night so I am sure you will be seeing a lot of posts concerning that chat. What I took away from the chat was that Medtronics is advocating re-programming our units to give us warning in the case of the lead not functioning correctly. I wonder why this was not done as a matter of course during the original programming??? I was glad the doctor joined the chat, but I took most of what he said with a grain of salt because he represents the best interests of Medtronics. We all need to talk to our doctors and decide what is the best course of action to take. This is very scary! Sydney RE: medtronic help line help or no help that is the question !
