Guest guest
Hi JW, The massive changeover to high fructose corn syrup occured soon after 1975, and was made possible through recombinant DNA technology. My microbiology professor was on the moratorium congress that investigated the possible health implications, but I remember his discussion of it. They were worried about inadvertently loosing mutant microbes into the environment. I don't think he ever imagined the impact high fructose corn syrup would have. I don't believe there was any FDA testing, such as artificial sweetners currently endure. That makes that particular step just about 25 years ago, so we might say that we are right on schedule. That was 40 yrs ago. What's taken so long? regards. _________________________________________________________________ On the road to retirement?
