Guest guest
I think i got the idea off here, but when BJ is doing the stop, drop, flop thing, I just hoist his heavy butt up onto my shoulder- his head facing my butt, and my hand holding his legs. I have received quite a few weird looks- but it is the only way to carry him when he gets like this- well for me anyway. is also very society concious- he gets soooooo embarssed when carried this way. I ask him ot get up about 3 or 4 times, when he doesnt compliy, I just pick him up- I dont say anything- just hoist Once you get him there it is reaosnably easy to carry them- easier than on your hip or piggy back > So now I'm beat and can't even begin to think about how to >handle the next stop drop and flop/noodle dance! Maybe we'll just >never leave the house again! Ha ha! >Any ideas? >Thanks, > > -- Aussie Leis- mum to BJ - 6- ds, Natasha 2 and 22 weeks
Guest guest
Thank you Leis! I will try this on our next outing ( I say this as I know it will probably occur on the next outing). I will ask him to get up a few times and if he doesn't, I will just hoist him over my shoulder and go - I won't say a thing, just plop him in the carseat and head home. Once I have him in the carseat, should I bring it up or just go on as " normal " ? I'm open to just about anything at this point! Do you all think that when he does this, it's best to just stop what I'm doing and go home? Or just remove him from the situation, via the heave over the shoulder, take a break and try again with whatever it was we were doing? You all are so helpful,I value your experiences and advice - thank you. Guest guest
Jodi, This is something we did always until recently. I put him in the stroller everywhere we went. I've been trying to give him a little bit of " freedom " and a learning experience by letting him walk when it's supposed to be a quick in and out errand or pick up. Sometimes it's just not conducive to bring a stroller. Each time I've had a bad experience lately I've said to myself, " he's just going to have to always be in a stroller! " Thanks for the input. I appreciate everyone's advice. Jayne Re: stop, drop, and flop!!! When my son was this age I took a stroller *everywhere*. If he stopped, and plopped, into the stroller he went with a buckle on. I was not going to carry his hefty body anywhere, lol. Sometimes my hands were just too full. Jodi
Guest guest
When would do this, we would either take a break from the situation, or head home. The trick was a time out when we got home. I quickly learned if we just went home and she got to do what she wanted, play or watch TV, she would start doing the flop just to get home. So we started following up with a time out, which was an adult chair in the middle of the kitchen, where she couldn't reach anything. As with everything, it took awhile, but when it clicked - it worked. Sharon H. Guest guest
I used to do that but now Nic is 65 lbs. I suggest finding a way to stop it now because there will come a day when you won't be able to hoist him over your shoulder.
