Balancing Amino Acids

Hi folks:

Is it known over what time frame it is important to consume

complementary amino acids?

Is it important to do so at every meal? Or is every day adequate? Or

each week? Or might monthly be OK?

When logging one's food intake into nutrition analysis software what

time period should one be concentrating on? This presumably is also

relevant for the other essential nutrients. And the period is likely

different for each. How much storage capacity does the body have for

each nutrient? Do we know?

Rodney.

Hey Rodney

Every nutrient is different..

However, we know people have fasted for extended

periods on water only with no food intake, without

compromsing their health. Documented in medical

studies going over 6 months.

In addition, the body is excellent at recycling many

nutrients. Not all, as some are essential. In

regard to protein, the body actually gets about 60-70%

of its need from recycling. The RDAs is for the

remaining amount. the amino acids from catabolism

are intered into the amino acid pool also.

RDAs/DRIs, are averages over time based on population

studies so they never were intended as a individual

daily requirement.

There is no need to ensure some predetermined amino

acid profile at every meal. I think the studies i

posted in the intial exchange listed something like 48

hours.

Regards

Jeff
