Guest guest
Today wask like, well,... normal. Jan and I did the big block (a little over four miles of hill and dale). She was in good spirits all the way with a little jogging at the two mile mark and more in the downhill stretch at about three miles. Longest hike since last July. Took a little over an hour and a half. Tomorrow's probably a day off for her. Jan keeps reenforcing my belief that fitness really helps! For the few who may not know, Jan is 31 and has been through nearly four years of one serious illness after another. The AML of two years recurred last spring and she had to go through more chemo and then a t-cell (bone marrow) transplant with her brother as a donor. Her recovery from the BMT has been very slow, but in the past six weeks she started exercising on the treadmill and now is able to hike distances at a good pace. Exercise isn't new to Jan who was a gymnast, skier, and hiker from an early age. Rick ... happy dad of Jan (31 and yes, with ds) p.s .. thanks to all for prayers and support. We're not out of the woods, but things are looking so much better.
