I would bet that almost everyone in this group who uses cinnamon for its' " benefits " uses ground cinnamon because it is the most convenient, easily found, and convenient way to use it. I know I do. So if anyone else has info that we can easily understand about this, please post.

No, despite some attempts at finding negative research on pubmed.

I am very interested as I use ground cinnamon on nearly everything!

Not just for its insulin sensitivity improvements, but for taste. :)

I find it plays well in both sweet and savory dishes.

Thanks,

While you might still win the bet, I for one have long used sticks of

cinnamon (actually bark I think) that I chop up in blender for a recipe

I've cooked for years.

I can imagine a finely ground powder as being somewhat more

bio-available than in stick form. If the " benefit " is from a hormetic

effect (i.e. small doses of toxin trigger strong protective response)

it's plausible that too much of that " good " thing could be bad. As with

all things, moderation is advised.

PMID: 15964311, "Cinnamaldehyde (Cin) has been shown to be effective in inducing apoptotic cell death in a number of human cancer cells. .....These results conclude that Cin triggers apoptosis in PLC/PRF/5 cells could be through the activation of pro-apoptotic Bcl-2 family (Bax and Bid) proteins and MAPK signaling pathway.

Re: [ ] Cinnamon (was Re: Cinnamon and Cloves)

I would bet that almost everyone in this group who uses cinnamon for its' "benefits" uses ground cinnamon because it is the most convenient, easily found, and convenient way to use it. I know I do. So if anyone else has info that we can easily understand about this, please post.

Hi folks:

Given the, apparently dramatic, effects of CRON on biomarkers for CVD

and diabetes, it might seem inadvisable to swallow substances that

may add some further benefits for CVD and diabetes, if they

simultaneously increase the incidence of cancer.

I say the above while having no opinion of the overall desirability

of cinnamon for people on CRON. Indeed, I use cinnamon in my

previously published version of tomato soup. So I am very open-

minded to more input about this.
