Guest guest
I am mad as hell.... that a member of our ZapFamily is being asked to tolerate WAY more life endangering treatment than even a killer or terrorist or animal abuser deserves.First the rush to surgery, even though Stacie's doctor made it clear: "NO surgery until I am back in town... Just keep her stable!" Why the hurry? As Jim Eagan and his wife postulated: A bunch of new rookies got a chance to do their first surgery! The new intern class at Riley Hospital checked in on July 2nd. Stacie's doctor confirmed again today... there was NO crisis requiring immediate surgery. The cable on her implanted defibrillator broke... the ICD battery was drained when got 200 zaps. She was not in distress (other than shaky from all the 700 volt shocks) and would have done just fine being monitored for a day or two. They botched it. Think we will discover from the Medtronic Tech who was in the OR: The clowns failed to insert or position the replacement lead in her heart properly. They failed a second time. They failed a third time. So then... they opted to mount external sensors and therapy pads on the outside of the heart. Then, while doing that... one of the clumsy goons put a gash in her lung! And her heart rhythm went bonkers and she arrested... depriving her brain of oxygen.... until TWENTY zaps from an external defibrillator got the heart beating again. And NOW the bums are too busy covering their own butts to make sure Stacie gets the treatment she needs... and deserves. And now our dear little "sister" suffers from brain damage and heart failure... problems she did NOT have when she checked into Riley Hospital late last week! And they are with withholding vital information about what was done properly/wrongly (evidence) that her doctors need to know RIGHT NOW what to do. This is [f-bomb expletive] CRIMINAL! And each of us should invest in phone calls and emails... lets flood Indianapolis Riley Hospital with protests and demand they keep rookie wanna-be doctors away from Stacie - and any other young person whose life is put at risk or shortened by incompetents lacking experience to do anything but endanger lives - who should NEVER be given a doctor's license!Also... flood the Indy Newspaper and TV stations with phone calls and emails - let's make them aware that Riley Hospital is a dangerous place for anyone with a problem more serious than an ingrown toe-nail! Guest guest
I think her family should get a lawyer too and sued the pants off this whole outfit! There are plenty that would do this case on a contingency. Can't they take her elsewhere???? > > I am mad as hell.... that a member of our ZapFamily is being asked to > tolerate WAY more life endangering treatment than even a killer or > terrorist or animal abuser deserves. Guest guest
I too am pretty upset about this! I emailed her the other night and when she emailed me back, naturally, she was concerned about the rest of us here in the zapfamily. Of course she's worried about her own treatment, but she just amazes me with her concern, care, and compassion for others. My 50+ shocks seem to dim in comparison to what she has been through. I have already emailed all the news agencies about it and hope to goodness that they will take it to heart. As a fellow " Hoosier " I have seen many pieces that some of them have ran from time to time on the medical beat. Let's all pray that they run with this one. Also, if we could get some more specifics about her dogs needs I will also try making some contacts in that area also. Best to all, Tom > > I am mad as hell.... that a member of our ZapFamily is being asked to > tolerate WAY more life endangering treatment than even a killer or > terrorist or animal abuser deserves. > > First the rush to surgery, even though Stacie's doctor made it clear: > " NO surgery until I am back in town... Guest guest
Just a note to everyone: You have the right to refuse treatment by interns or residents. You can specify NO HOUSE STAFF. The attending physicians don't like it because it makes them work harder but it is your health you're protecting. Which brings me to another example: when my ICD was replaced, my wife (a physician), scrubbed in to observe. The EP's Fellow came into the OR and he introduced the observing physician as the patient's wife. The Fellow immediately left the OR to rescrub. What does that tell you? A fellow, by the way, is a doctor who has completed his/her residency and is getting additional subspecialty training. They are already licensed physicians who want to narrow their focus. An electrophysiologist has completed a residency in internal medicine, and fellowships in cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology.
