Dear Yes I am searching out this information to show it too the

Doctor. I seen an endocrinologist many years ago and he did nothing for

me not even a urine test.

The doctor that I see now is only a PA but has seen me often and heard

my complaints and is very understanding. He is also a friend of mine. He

sent me for a panel of MRI's that showed nothing last year because of

leg and feet disorders and this last X-ray was of my foot, when he

looked at it he said now we might be on to some thing and he said it is

probably Osteopenia and sent me for a Dexascan.

So my husband and I are doing the research because we feel there must

be some thing causing this problem at my age and I have been taking

calcium for awhile so when I got last blood test done it was in the

almost low range but not enough low to have any body suspect a problem.

But when the Pa looked over it last week again he said it was in the

almost too low range just above the considered low range.

We have read that in early years of a Hyper Parathyroid you put out a

lot of calcium and your bones become robbed of it but as you get into

the stage were your bones are depleted and there is no more source of

calcium and the test start to read lower levels.

It's alot to absorbed with my tired brain but my husband is very excited

about his research he's researched many things about my illness. And I

have never seen him so excited because I have many of the syndromes he

has read that one's with a bad parathyroid has.

I would really love to some what well again. Even if it means having my

neck slit open.

How long have you been ill before finding out you had a Parathroyiod

disorder?

Thank you for information. Jeanie

Jeanie,

The test for parathormone would tell them if there was

an abnormality with the glands. Do you know if they ever did one of

those? I find it hard to believe that a doctor could look at

a patient who has problems, and not send them for tests. Of course,

I've been to similar doctors, but not anymore. The doctors I have

now, are very thorough, and I'm much more comfortable with their

opinions, then with my previous doctors.

We have read that in

It sounds possible in my mind, but not something I've read

directly. I know I have weakened bones and teeth because of

it. Some of that calcium is now in my kidneys, heart, arteries,

joints, etc.

It's alot to absorbed

with my tired brain but my husband is very excited

about his research he's researched many things about my illness. And

I

have never seen him so excited because I have many of the syndromes

he

has read that one's with a bad parathyroid has.

And his research might be what helps you.

I know one retired doctor (in his late 70's) that says that his patients

could become smarter than him, on things regarding their own health,

thanks to the internet. He realized that patients could devote all

their free time, to researching their one problem, while he had to divide

his research time between all his patients. We truly are

living in an age, where people have vast resources available. Those

that choose to use them are greatly rewarded.

I would really love to

some what well again. Even if it means having my

neck slit open.

I had the neck surgery twice (as explained on my web

page). It's not as bad, as it first seems. Aside

from some temporary facial numbness, and a stiff neck, there was very

little discomfort. I had my surgeries at Jefferson

University Hospital, in Philadelphia. I was told by a former

chief of surgery, to get the operation at an institution like that, as

they have the latest equipment, and know the best techniques.

I was informed of a risk to damage to the nerves controlling the vocal

cords. since they are very close. That's another reason to

use a surgeon who has done a lot of this type of operation.

How long have you been

ill before finding out you had a Parathroyiod

disorder?

At least 6 years. One doctor told me, I

could have had it for many years before I had my first symptoms though,

so it could be a lot more than that. I developed a lot (hundreds)

of kidney stones, which was my first symptom.

Thank you for

information. Jeanie

I wish you good luck, in your quest for the solution to your

problems.

Time for me to hit the hay, (5am comes awful early)
