Guest guest
Recently, I have been wondering if the body size scaling formulas have any application to CR-stunted mice vs. non-CR mice. It is well documented that mice on a 40%CR diet grow to an adult size that is half the size of non-restricted mice. As far as I know, the basal metabolism is decreased by by a maximum of ~15%, regardless of the degree of CR. Here is a paper that shows a straight-line, log-log relationship between total metabolic rate and weight. http://biology.unm.edu/jhbrown/Research/Scaling/Scaling.htm Does weight vs. BMR calculated by the Mifflin-St Jeor equations produce that log-log relationship? I think not. Tony
