I was told that my youngest son would "grow out of" his ear problems by age 5, then 8, then 13. He is almost 16 and has never "grown out" of ear probs. I'm glad that I stuck with the same ENT for all these years, or he wouldn't have been treated aggressively enough. Our HMO doc didn't even see the hole in his eardrum once! Lee

Oh, poor him, What are they doing for it? What are his symptoms, is

he having constant ear infections, has he had grommets etc? when did

they find the hole, recently??

He has holes in both eardrums. Had tubes twice and had adenoids removed. Had operations to do skin graft over eardrum hole before but kept bursting. Took a spoonful of ampicillin for a year, on one trial. Took rhynatan for a year, on another trial. Nothing ever worked. Wears custom earplugs to shower and swim and doesn't get too many infections. Only when he went to camp last summer did he "forget" and get an infection. He only has mild hearing loss. Thanks for your concern. Lee
