What's the deal Leis? Are there other kids for him to play with in daycare?

Lots and lots of kids in the US go to 'camp' for their summer vacations (it's

your summer now, right?) Since I live in NYC, I'd say 75% of the kids in my

area are in 1/2 or full day camp for 6-8 weeks each summer. Liam would go

except he goes to summer school as well. I think of the one day a month Liam

has

his recreation/respite program part of his social life. I say go for it!

Leis,

Hi.

I've been working full time always- went back to work when amanda was 6 weeks

old. she did stay with a cousin of mine (whom I paid). And then was in EI

from 9 months old.

I went back when jesse was 3 months old (has some extra time cause he was

born in june- got a few extra weeks). I had a sitter for him- brought him to

her

house she had about 4-5 kids there. Cost me a fortune!!!!!!!!

Finally put him in a day care situ which worked out wonderfully till he went

to pre-K.

My heart goes out to all of us who have to work when our kids are little (or

big), but sometimes ya gotta do, what ya gotta do....

Thanks to everyone for their replies.

I know we do what we have to do- I think I wa just looking for approval.

pointed out I'll feel guilty no matter what I do :)

We have no family here to rely on, and that makes it a tad harder :) Nor

many friends- the friends we DO have work days and have no kids. Joys of

moving away from family. I trust the daycare centre he will be going to-

and Natasha both go there. I used to feel so bad about Natasha

going to daycare, but now her speech has improved and she is such a

confident little girl, that I no longer have doubts that she needs it.

She is teaching BJ how to speak too which is better than a speech

therapist :) This will also cost me $9 for half a day, where as to get a

sitter in would cost about $60 for 3 hrs.

I will find a way to not feel like a bad mummy.

Thanks for letting me vent and get " approval " of you guys :)

Aussie Leis- mum to BJ - 6- alternating between devil and angel- ds, Natasha 23

months - my little princess who has discovered the love of hair stuff and " piggy

tails " - and 10 weeks- growing like the proverbial weed :)

And there is no winning...... was in daycare (6 kids at a friend's

who did home daycare) from 4 months until she was a little over 3.

Then, we decided that I should become a stay-at-home mom ( was

about 10 months old). We thought this would be best for the kids and

our family. Well, as it turned out, I had no idea of what to do with a

3 year old ALL THE TIME (plus a baby)...... didn't have friends with

kids her age (who didn't work), didn't know about playgroups, it was

cold and snowy outside, so we didnt find anyone at parks....... oh, and

the house was on the market so we have to be tidy. It was hardly two

weeks before was begging to go visit her friends at Miss Toni's

:-) I finally decided to have her go back 2 morning each week (usually

when I had 's EI stuff scheduled) so that she could play with

her friends. I was kinda bummed out.... here I just dumped my research

career that I had spent 5 years in grad school, couple years of post

doc, and moved across the country for a good job, only to have my

daughter say...... " when do I get to go back to Miss Toni's? " I laugh

at how different it was for my youngest at age 3........ I was much

better Mommy-trained by that time :-)

, mom to (8), (6 tomorrow!, DS), and (4)
