Congratulations, Jackie. I had to comment on this because I'm seeing that happening all around me -- and for me too. I'm going back to school in the fall to become a teacher. It's been a lifelong dream of mine that got sidelined when Ian was born, and now it's time to get back to it. Thanks for showing me that it's possible. Guest guest
Every one around me is becoming a teacher! I have two good friends who decided maybe 6 months ahead of me to do their degrees so they could train as primary teachers, they both start in january and me in march, another friend finished his MA in the summer and applied (and was accepted) on a secondary PGCE (post graduate certificate in education, one of our teacher qualifications) starting three days later, another friend said she was seriously thinking about training, about 3 other people at our church have decided to train including the pastors daughter, and are in the application/interview process and then yesterday I heard that my next door neighbour starts training in january! I think that in two years time at least half the adult women of working age in our church (of about 150 people) will be teachers, most of them primary, some secondary and a couple lecturers! Education, like disability, is a small world to live in it seems!!! sue wong becoming a teacher > > I think slowly but surely many of us will find our way into the > educational system >to perhaps assist in making it not only better for the > advantaged students, but also >the disadvantaged ones also. >

It's never too late to go back and get your degree. I did when I had three kids and did very well. You can do it and we'll be supporting you every step of the way. Guest guest
Silly it was me lol my journey allowed me to wear these hats......... a Doctor, Psychologist, therapist, teacher, child advocate, Lawyer, etc .......... Indian Chief lololol Kathy mom to Sara 12 ............... someone forgot to give me the diplomas though You've gone through the school of Hard Knocks...lol. You know, when we parent children with special needs, we get an education that cannot be taught in any classroom. We talked about our degrees at work (psych, BSW, MSW, etc.) and someone actually said that I have a better edge in understanding because of parenting a special needs child. I think that was a compliment --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com).
