Guest guest
Is anyone on Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine)? I ask as I started it on Friday. Its made me really tired yet there was no warnings of fatigue etc with this medication. I had it two years ago but I was so sick then I was asleep 24/7 so I dont remember how I felt on it. Aisha, I'm not on this med. I thought while I had my drug bible down from the bookshelf I might as well look this up too <grins>. Are you on any MAOI's?? Were you aware that the two interact? Also be careful not to get too much sun exposure while you're taking it as it can cause severe sun sensitivity. Also in the guide I have, it does list fatigue as a rare side effect so if you are concerned, call the doc. But I don't need to tell you that do I?? *smile* anne

Guest guest
Aisha, When I worked in the eye department at the clinic, I remember we had tons of people coming in all the time for Plaquenil checks. So please take special care of you beautiful eyes. Love and hugs,

Guest guest
Hi everyone, Thanks for all the info and anne thanks for looking this up for me, "Are you on any MAOI's??" What are they? "Also be careful not to get too much sun exposure while you're taking it as it can cause severe sun sensitivity." Yes, I cannot go in the sun cause I am on immune suppressants anyhow, and heat makes me sick, so that one I knew. "Also in the guide I have, it does list fatigue as a rare side effect so if you are concerned, call the doc. But I don't need to tell you that do I?? *smile*" Oh yes you do, I can be stubborn about not bothering my Dr unless its a real emergency cause he is so busy. Its good to know that fatigue is a side effect. Rare huh? Well typical of me ... I only get rare shit! LOL .. My latest thing though with the plaquenil is that its made me extremely hungry, to the point where if I dont eat I feel faint. So I had to eat twice more yesterday then I normally do. I know plaq can affect your tummy but did not know it can. cause hunger etc - has anyone else experienced this? Is it in your drug bible anne? lol.. Thanks guys - I have a feeling me and this med are not going to gell well. I am still yet to start the tegretol. I dont want to start it while having side effects from the other drug so I know what is doing what to me. (Plus I'm terrified of the tegretol lol) Anyhow., if anyone has experienced extreme hunger with the plaq let me know. Thanks guys. You are the greatest! Love Aisha
Guest guest
"Are you on any MAOI's??" What are they? MAOI's are Monoamine Oxidase inhibitors (anti-depressants) e.g Nardil, Parnate and Parstelin. My latest thing though with the plaquenil is that its made me extremely hungry, to the point where if I dont eat I feel faint. So I had to eat twice more yesterday then I normally do. I know plaq can affect your tummy but did not know it can. cause hunger etc - has anyone else experienced this? Is it in your drug bible anne? lol.. My drug bible (The Australian Drug Guide by Dr Jonathon Upfal 4th Edition) doesn't mention anything about increased appetite at all. In fact it warns of decreased appetite. If you are getting to the point where you're feeling faint, that says to me (diabetic) that you may be experiencing a drop in your blood glucose levels. Do you know someone who lives closeby who is diabetic and uses a glocose monitor, you could check your level when you're feeling like this just to see for yourself. I also wonder whether you're having an interaction with the drugs you're on? Just ruminatin' here :-) Love anne
